Google has apparently contacted several Adwords advertisers to tell that the pay per call ads for mobile devices will go live this month.

What do you think of this? I see a great potential for high end/tech products who will have a higher number of smartphone-owning customers. Obviously, this will be a hit among smartphone users.

I figured this was coming sooner or later. It's a bit sooner than I expected.

My question is, how many people use search engines with their cell? My guess is a very small percentage.

The potential will depend on what you sell. Looking at my client list, I only see a small percentage where I think this would be of potential benefit.

Why high end/tech products? The only reason I can think of you would say that is people at a store looking at a product and see if someone else is selling it cheaper. Question is, would people go to that other store and buy it or buy online?

I like it but haven't used AdWords in a long time. Can you now set your ads to only display for mobile device searches?

I would like that if they rolled that out. When we get calls our conversion rate is sky high.
