The problem seems to be that it's expiring login sessions too quickly or randomly. I was in the middle of working in an account using the keyword tool and it told me that my session had expired.
AWA : are you aware of this issue?

Happend to me all the time. I hate that. I manage 13 accounts and it is a pan.
12:31 am on May 29, 2009 (gmt 0)
Only started happening to me over the last few days - was working fine before.

I had not heard of this - but will look into it.
Happend to me all the time. [...]
ogletree, does this imply that it used to happen to you in the past, but no longer does?
Or do you mean that it still is happening?
In the back of my mind I wonder if this is an issue with an older browswer and/or something to do with cache and cookies.
Also, a quick question for the both of you: 'New UI', or old?
1:48 am on May 29, 2009 (gmt 0)
Old UI. No changes to browser, cache, cookies etc.
6:39 am on May 29, 2009 (gmt 0)
I had this happen to me as well.
I tried to access an account in the Old UI format and it would keep booting me back to the MCC dashboard.
I could access one of the other accounts perfectly fine because it was in the new UI format. That had no issues.
But now that I have one account in old UI and one in New UI it wont let me run the one in old UI and keeps booting me out.
Worse still, there's no option at the top right to upgrade to the new UI for that one!
Any solutions AWA?

I can't say that I've experienced this - will let you know if I do...
2:00 pm on May 29, 2009 (gmt 0)
It happens to me - most often in Analytics, but sometimes in Old UI as well.
6:25 pm on May 29, 2009 (gmt 0)
I don't use the new IO yet because I have a heavy client load and just don't have time to learn something new.
I will be working on a client and I will be sent back to the main client list randomly. I work in adwords all day long. It only haves 4 or 5 times a day.
One thing to note is that there are 9 people working in adwords all day and another 10 people that randomly log in. We all use the same username and log in. Other annoying thing that happen is that when I change dates anywhere sometimes it goes to some other date. I figure it is just another user putting in a date that overrides mine.

Nothing to suggest so far, except what I probably didn't say directly enough in my previous post. Several folks that I've talked to here all had the same first thought - clear cache and cookies.
I have talked to a senior member of the tech team who says is he is hearing of no other escalations to his team about this, which, if this was something new and widespread would certainly be occurring. They typically will hear of an emerging issue very quickly, since a lot of advertiser will write in.
After agreeing about the possibility of a cookie conflict, he said he'd look into it further - and if I learn more, I'll post again. Given what I know of his schedule, I do not predict this will be today, however. :)

Well it's an issue for me. I've basically given up on working in the online interface and I'm just using Adwords editor...
...just to clarify, I haven't switched either my MCC or any of my individual accounts to the new UI yet.

Yep, this has started happening to me today too - no changes ot my browser or anything
11:21 am on Jun 2, 2009 (gmt 0)
OK, it's only on the old UI - but the new one is too wide when I take out some of the columns - decisions, decisions, which annoyance is worse?!

<quote>In the back of my mind I wonder if this is an issue with an older browswer and/or something to do with cache and cookies.</quote>
I experience this frequently. The only browser I have used with AdWords is Google Chrome. This happens to me in both Chrome 1.0 and 2.0.

Still happening here... still stuck with just using adwords editor to get stuff done.
2:33 pm on Jun 12, 2009 (gmt 0)
I've been experiencing this issue as well for a couple of weeks... I decided today to see if people were complaining and i am happy to see i ain't the only one who thinks it is non-sense.
Hope to see a change on that soon enough!
9:53 pm on Jun 12, 2009 (gmt 0)
I'm definitely still seeing it - thank goodness for Adwords Editor! But it would be nice to have the online interface back...
12:41 am on Jun 17, 2009 (gmt 0)
I'm curious to know if anyone who is experiencing this issue has tried working directly with AdWords support - by writing in from the account in question and giving a detailed rundown of what happens, and under what circumstances it occurs?
This would really be the best way to approach it, in my opinion, since the support folks could look into it and/or escalate to tech folks as appropriate - with the benefit of being able to see and test in the actual account.
11:21 am on Jun 18, 2009 (gmt 0)
I had it happen all day yesterday when I attempted to use the display ad builder in paused adgroups or paused campaigns.
Other than that, haven't had the issue.
1:50 pm on Jun 19, 2009 (gmt 0)
I've tried directly working through Adwords support, but it's not cleared up the issue.
It seems to happen to me most in the Reporting Centre (which can be REALLY annoying when you've gone through selecting all your options, hit Run and then boom you're straight back to MCC and have to go all over again)
I'm on the development version of chrome and I think it has something - same sort of things happened with Analytics in chrome too - all working fine and then for about a month it just kept crashing (something to do with a Shockwave Flash problem), then one day it's fine again...
I'm probably preaching to the converted here but it'd be a good idea to fully test Google products on Chrome before releasing updates for Chrome - especially as I imagine a higher % of Chrome users use other Google products than users on IE / FF

Sorry, I did not see this post until just now, James_WV., having been away from the office since the 19th.
In any case, I'll find the right folks and pass your details and comments along.
11:21 am on Jun 25, 2009 (gmt 0)
thanks AWA :)
5:51 pm on Jun 28, 2009 (gmt 0)
Still happening to me - if anything it seems to be happening even more frequently than before...
1:17 pm on Jun 29, 2009 (gmt 0)
Usually happens to me when I try to go into reports tab
12:05 am on Jun 30, 2009 (gmt 0)
It usually happens to me when entering the reports tab as well.
I'm still suing the latest version of Chrome.
11:02 am on Jun 30, 2009 (gmt 0)
I think this problem is due to the adwords migration to the new interface.
2:22 pm on Jun 30, 2009 (gmt 0)
No, I've been having it since way before the new interface showed up.
6:44 pm on Jun 30, 2009 (gmt 0)
It happens to me everywhere - reports, ad entry, tools, etc. I think it started happening before the new interface showed up too. We're not using the new interface anyway. And I use Firefox, not Chrome.

Because this thread has remained active over quite a period of time, I have occasionally checked in with the tech folks for their thoughts. Bottom line, they are not able to duplicate what is being reported here.
It is much more effective to work on this sort of thing with actual 'cases' to examine, so I will make this offer:
If any or all of you who are reporting this are concerned enought that you would care to 'sticky mail' me with as much specific detail as possible, I will send it directly to the tech folks.
They'd like to have information such as OS, Browser, IP address, time of error, CID (MCC and child), what you were doing when you got booted out to the MCC level (i.e., what you clicked on), and so forth.
Once they have actual 'cases' in hand, they can start to track things and hopefully find a connection between cases.
I have often said in this forum that I do not know who any WebmasterWorld member is as an AdWords advertiser. Nor do I want to know.
So, I will pass your information along without looking at the accounts at all or making any connection between the account(s) and you. Nor will I keep any record or notes. I will simply pass the information along, and have it out of my hands entirely.
It is up to you, of course, as to whether you'd like to do this - but without further specific information, the tech folks have gone as far as they can go.
To set reasonable expectations, I also can't specify a timeframe for this to be resolved, because, as you might expect, there is lot going on here and things pretty much have to be addressed on the basis of what is the next top priority.
