The DoubleClick Cookie [webmasterworld.com] helps serve "relevant" advertising services through Google AdSense and AdWords programs, however, you may or may not know that it's possible to opt out of the cookie.

There's a useful page on Privacy for Ads [google.com], however, this is not permanent opt-out.

For permanent opt-out you need an Advertising Cookie Opt-out browser plug-in. [google.com]

Forgive me if i'm a little techy about this, but, it seems like a lot of work, and it should be a lot easier, especially for the less net-savvy users.
