Google rolling out new UI today
ogletree

I asked my Google rep to turn on the new ui for one of our clients and they told me they were not doing that anymore because they are rolling out the UI live to everybody very soon. I was just in my account and clicked on something and it just switched over. I think they may be rolling out today.

This is the New Interface (Beta) you are referring to?

Yes the new Beta Interface. I guess technically what they rolled out was a public Beta. You can still switch back to the old one. I switched back because I was in the middle of something when they rolled it out on me. They switched it back again later while I was still working on the same thing. They seem to really want me to use it. I like it but I was in the middle of doing some work. I don't mind using it but my brain can't handle that much change in the middle of a doing a task I already started.

That is a thread about the limited beta this thread is about the fact that they are rolling it out to everybody. I just talked to my google rep and she said all week they are rolling it out to everybody. By the end of week everybody will have access to it.

My account got switched to the new UI some time in the last few hours.

I just noticed a little bug, too -- the new UI determines Today's date using your local computer's clock and ignores the Time Zone setting for your account. Right now, my account says Today is April 22 if I use the new UI, but it says Today is April 21 if I use the old UI.

In my MCC the pull down list for clients seems to be in random order when it used to be in alpha order.

Coincidentally this seems to be causing all sorts of problems on some of my older computers. All are refusing to update to todayís date and everything has gone a little crazy. Never had any problems before the new Google UI started showing error after error. I havenít figured out how to fix yet even with a roll-back.

Beware this new Google UI! It looks like a big screw-up to me. I say stick with the old.

They have a list of known issues [adwords.google.com]. I don't see the new UI yet, nor have I been able to find the "New Interface (Beta)" link they talk about.

I have found it very slow compared to the old interface.

I did an online webinar with Google yesterday going through the new features and for some reason my buttons said different things to the presenters, even though they did the same function. Quite confusing.

It'll be good once the problems are ironed out and the speed increases. New features are always a bonus.

I'll make sure the right folks see this thread - and I've included many of these comments in this week's Advertiser Feedback Report which gets sent out each Thursday evening.

Many thanks,

I used it for a couple of days but now I've switched back. It's definitely slower for me and the whole ui is just 'too busy'. I know we can all be against change, but change for changes sake is not always the best. Like any larger organisation, I guess there are people that need to justify there salaries by coming up with new 'improved' user interfaces etc.

Flanker you must not know what it does. There are a lot of new features that are worth it. It is not just change for changes sake. Many of these are features that we already enjoy in adwords editor. People requested these features.

1. Change bids without going to another page
2. Copy and paste ads between ad groups
3. Graphs without having to go to another page
4. Help search box on every page

I think the new features and look are nice with the new version, however in it's current state, it is unusable for me. Errors and slow loading just won't cut it.

Granted, I used the editor for 99% of what I do with adwords but for the 1% I do use the web interface, being able to actually access it and use it without taking 20minutes to do a task that once took 10, does not seem like an improvement to me no matter what new functions are in it.

I do agree that the new features are not worth a slowdown. I normally don't approve of using this kind of technology. I was hoping that Google would do it better than every;body else since they are known for making things fast. I have yet to see somebody use this technology and it be worth it.

Google should know better than everybody that users want speed more than any other feature.

Found a new bug. In the old interface you could right click on analytics and open in a new tab or window. Now your only choice is to browse away to analytics.

I still can not use it. Just get a big red box that says not available, an email has been sent to the engineers.

Sure hope this completly debugged before the old version is retired.

I cannot get used to this new user interface. I finally figured out how to an edit an ad. You have to have your mouse hovering in the right place to make the pencil show up. Forget onmouseover, just put the pencil there all the time!

I can't figure out how to not display paused ads.

Finding ads is difficult too. I was using Chrome today and its search function wouldn't jump to the ad I was looking for.

So I switched back to the old UI and was immediately productive instead of frustrated.

Just a quick heads-up, in honor of this thread.

Starting this week, I've decided to include a special section in the Advertiser Feedback Report (which I send out each week) devoted entirely the new Adwords UI.

I'll happily pass along your comments (verbatim) regarding the new UI, whether they are positive, negative or neutral.

For easy quotability (and also due to space limitations in the report) posts which are shortish, concise and 'pithy' are best - since they are more likely to be read (as opposed to skimmmed) by the notoriously busy readership of the report.

Thanks in advance!

1) Can we get a configuration setting for the currency display? My account currency is Canadian dollars, so everywhere in the new interface it shows CA$nnn whereas in the old interface it shows $nnn. I'm well aware that my account is in CA$, so there's no sense in cluttering up the display with the repetition of the "CA"; $nnn is much easier on the eyes. I know that some people will like to see CA$ or AU$ or whatever, so if it's configurable then it will cater to both preferences.

2) I really, really miss the "Search my campaigns" feature. Is it anywhere in the new interface?

3) In the old interface, when viewing the list of ad groups in a campaign, it shows separate lines for "Total - XX active ad groups" and "Total - all YY ad groups". In the new interface, there first of those lines is missing (and it is missed... I find it handy).

4) In the old interface, when viewing an ad group the 'featured' ad variation shown at the top was chosen from among the Active ad variations (usually the one with the most clicks). But in the new interface it shows the oldest ad variation, even if that variation is paused. Please revert back to the old behavior.

5) "Diagnose keywords" at the Campaign or Ad Group level is a fantastic feature. It would be great if you could add it somewhere convenient in the new interface.

Thanks!

The latest are now in the report. ;)

Many thanks, Rehan and MrMacphisto!

About an hour to go - and I'll check back one more time to see if there are any late breaking additions.

Ok - first impressions: it's not very user-friendly is it?

Editing ads? How do you actually do it? It's not very obvious.

Creating Ad Groups. Using the old interface you could create an Ad Group, with its associated ads and keywords. You could then save it and move on to the next Ad Group.

The next Ad Group would then start with the same ad by default. Extremely useful.

Unfortunately not replicated in the new interface. I'd estimate that it would take me at least twice as long to create a new campaign using the new interface :-(

In the new interface, how do we go about adding more kewyords with dynamic URL's into AdGroups? Or adding keywords with pet-set bid prices in the new interface?

Right now, this can only be done on an indivudal keyword level ..... extremely tedious.

I want to add 30 related keywords into my AdGroup - all with different destination URL's and bid prices, but right now this can only be done keyword by keyword in the new interface.

Turns out I kept getting the big red error box because it would not work withou the compatability mode turned on in ie8.

I will use the old interface as long as possible and do as much with the editor as I can. The new interface is a step in backwards as far as speed and function goes in my opinion.

I logged into two inactive accounts this morning to get them rebooted, and both only had the new UI. There wasn't a link to the old UI at all.

Has the migration to new UI only started (no old interface link)?

I'd love to see the ability to jump back to the old UI as you can't add certain things (like video ads, mobile ads, local ads, display ad builder) in the new interface.

These accounts can no longer use the display ad builder.
