Google Adwords – I did a mistake
URL changed so bids raised - please help

I did a terrible mistake.

I had a good Ad CTR with one of my campaigns. Since the CTR was good I was getting clicks at a very low rate – at about 35 cents.

One day I don’t know what went my head. I have another website with the same service. Almost everything is same except the logo and some content here and there.

Since I wanted to test this site too – I “Edited” the Ads (only changed the URL) to point to my second site.

The next day I got the shock of my life. 90% of the keywords went inactive, the bids were raised to $5/$10. The ones that are active are NOT getting as many impressions as they used to get pre-edit.

Now I am deeeeeply worried.

Here are some of my worries:

1. What can I do to get back my keywords active with the “SAME” cost per click?
2. Should I write to Google?
3. Is this normal or I have actually done a mistake?
4. How do we test 2 websites with same keywords and Ads?

Any help would be great.

Should I write to Google?

You should never write to Google if at all possible.

Depending upon how long it's been you can change everything back exactly as it was before. It will take a good part of the day but you have a decent chance or returning. If it's been an extended period of time you might as well close the old account and start all over with your original with a completely new account.

4. How do we test 2 websites with same keywords and Ads?

You can test more than one ad per group, with different URLs, titles and text.
