Looks like a test to me...well at least I hope so! I think it looks terrible and would actually make me not want to click on one of the top 3 listings. But who knows, maybe it will increase the CTR of those top spots?

I'm seeing it too. The yellow bars are showing up for my adwords listings, but they are not showing up on a (cache-cleared) machine down the hall. Looks like A/B testing.

Sweezely thanks for screen shot , just one query i see lot of windows opened , do you surf so many websites at same time? pretty good grasping power your brain must be intel duo 2 core with lots of parallel processing power

Lots tracking software, affiliate networks, Google searches and the like. There are also four webmaster world windows open. Hey, it's better than bookmarking. Although, it's a good job I just had those new 1080p eyes installed.

Interestingly only the headline of the top couple of ads is now clickable, whereas before I am sure that the whole blue bar was clickable.

I have seen it as well. I wrote about it at. I noticed that I got blue background when I used Internet Explorer and I got yellow one for the same search when I used Firefox. [edited by: eWhisper at 6:50 pm (utc) on Mar. 22, 2007]

ive never seen this but i do know they are playing around with customizing your google experience by adding pics to the background of your search screen.

Yes, they are trying to maximize their profits, so they try to figure out which is usable for users and advertisers (or advertisers and users ..).

I read Inside the Mind of the Searcher article by leading research company , although it was old one when Google earlier used to color up sponsored results , it(research paper) said users tend to overlook colored results (as they are too separate )and go to organic results . And since now again they are testing colored layouts i dont know what exact implications it mught be having
