Is anything generated/passed off to {keyword} when a contextual ad is clicked and its link contains {keyword}?

yes a keyword does get passed in url, when it contains {keyword} and appears on a content page. My guess it that this keyword is the one which the ad associated itself most with. In other words, its probably the keyword which played the strongest role in triggering your ad on a particular network page.
