The Google Quality Bot
Anyone know a way to slow it down?

This is kind of a continuation from this thread:

One of our clients is getting many hits from this Google adwords quality bot. The IP address is, the user agent matches IE ("Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)"), and the WHOIS lookup for the domain is from Google's Mountain View headquarters:

OrgName: Google Inc.
Address: 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway
City: Mountain View
StateProv: CA
PostalCode: 94043
Country: US

NetRange: -
NetName: GOOGLE-2
NetHandle: NET-66-102-0-0-1
Parent: NET-66-0-0-0-0
NetType: Direct Allocation
NameServer: NS1.GOOGLE.COM
NameServer: NS2.GOOGLE.COM
RegDate: 2002-07-03
Updated: 2003-08-13

We have keyword insertion on the URL, and this is not populated in our tracking, so there is almost no doubt about who this bot is. The pages it visited were literally (although anonymised):

Had this bot visited by scaping ads then {keyword} would be replaced with the actual keyword.

Unfortunately our client is using a very cheap shared hosting service and this bot is being pretty insistent in its visit frequency and is killing his server. He's turned off his Google advertising.

Anyone experienced this problem before? Anyone had any luck persuading Google to slow down a little?
