2nd Adwords Billing System Problem

This Adwords Billing System problem is *different* from the credit card declines which happened yesterday, so I'm using a different thread so that the 2 issues are not confused.

The "decline problem" was fixed already, but this is something a bit different. I encourage others to look in their "billing summary" section to verify the below issue...

Here's what I've discovered...

Just like many others I also had temporary billing problems yesterday, but then I had my "authorization" approved yesterday (credit card was accepted, ads are running, everything looks fine).

However, I still see something quite strange in the billing system which leads me to believe that the entire billing system is not fixed yet.

Can anybody else confirm that your "authorization" from yesterday was actually processed in your billing summary today? Look for the invoice and see if it's present in the billing summary today...

Also, can anybody else confirm that normal charges have resumed again today, and that the system is billing their card again at regular intervals without manual intervention?

I'm showing 2 problems still......

1) The billing system has not begun charging me at regular intervals again, and pending charges are racking up way beyond what is normal (this also happened right before the last billing glitch too).

2) I'm also showing that the "authorization" from yesterday is not actually being closed out into the billing summary today (and my account is still adding up 5 days worth of charges in my "pending" total).

My billing summary is acting as if no charges have happened within the past 5 days, even though Adwords support already verified that my card was charged ("authorized") yesterday.

I dont think it's just a normal "reporting delay" in my billing summary either, since pending charges are racking up pretty high without any attempted charges to my credit card. Usually the system charges at frequent intervals, but ever since the billing glitch happened the system has not resumed charging my card again period.

But there are no error messages in my account, and the ads are showing just fine.

Clearly the system is not back to normal, so if others are experiencing this problem then you should report it (so they realize that a problem is still present).

mine still say credit card declined even though it processed the charges using my backup card (i got an email from adwords support). something is still not working right but maybe a different problem...

We had the same problem yesterday in quite a few accounts and indeed although the account is running normal I do not see an invoice for the payment which was initially declined (and later OK when we rechecked the card manually). This was done yesterday so it seems unlikely that this is an update issue.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one seeing this 2nd problem with the billing system.

The Adwords support department doen't seem to realize that there is a problem though. If the billing system doesn't resume billing me at regular intervals soon, then the pending charges will grow to really high levels.

Anybody else seeing this problem?

AWA and I have been working on this one with our billing team. They think this issue should be resolved, so if you are still seeing it in your accounts, could you StickyMail me your account IDs?

Hello AWA and AWA2.

Thank you for the reply and for looking into this problem.

I just logged into my account, and the invoice from yesterday's payment has finally been created (and my pending balance was finally reduced by that same amount).

Though I should report that the system has not yet made any new charges to my card today -- and while the pending balance is still much lower than earlier, it's still high enough that new charges should be made to my card.

But I'll wait another 8-12 hours to see if the system will begin billing my card again at regular intervals each day (I usually get billed a few times per day when all is well, so I'm hoping those billings will begin again sometime today).

If I don't see any new billings to my credit card by tomorrow morning then I'll know that there is a problem still, and I'll send you a sticky mail with my Account ID if that's the case. But I'll be patient and wait until tomorrow morning before I panic. :-)

And I do appreciate your help in this matter.

Off topic, so I'll say this very quietly so AWA and AWA2 don't hear.

Does anybody think it's just a bit ironic that one of the reasons cited by Google for entering the payment business via Checkout was its experience and success in handling payments for Adwords and Adsense.

Google handles more transactions than Visa, MC, AmEx and Discover Card combined in its Adwords/AdSense businesses. With only a couple billing issues to date (and which were mainly reporting-related) I'd say they're correct in their assessment.

Update:

My account is now back to normal --- thank you AWA and AWA2.

I finally received my first automatic billing today, so it looks like all is well again. :-)

I'm a happy person again. :-)

Update: at least one of our client accounts does have an invoice now for payment of the 23th. All seems normal again.
