Tablet RPM is down 37% for me in July compared to the previous months where it was absolutely stable. The good thing is that mobile RPM is at a record level. Desktop, on the other hand, is down slightly, so overall, everything evens out.

Thursday was diabolical for me.
My worst day since the beginning of May shambles, when AdSense removal was looking most likely, and entirely done by the lowest EPC of the year.
How the heck UK and US EPC can drop to 44.4% overnight is ridiculous and so far this morning I've had one click for 8 cents. What the hell have they broken now?
2:31 pm on Jul 11, 2014 (gmt 0)
More garbage today, CTR slashed in two and EPC lowest of the year. A couple of more days like this and AdSense will be gone, pointless at this level.
8:41 pm on Jul 11, 2014 (gmt 0)
US EPC at 29.4%
UK EPC at 45.4%
WTF is going on G?
9:16 pm on Jul 11, 2014 (gmt 0)
Last two days smell bad on my end, too. CPM wise.
1:53 am on Jul 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
Wow, I'm just saying this is really awful right now. I'm just seeing red (minus) earnings. I haven't had a stretch like this in a month or two. It's so incredibly pronounced that I really do wonder what the H is going on. Not just one site, but across the board for me.

The dog days of summer, to sum it up in two words - REAL BAD.
11:33 am on Jul 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
In the last 2 days combined I have earnt 96.1% of my daily average yet click volume has been bang on average, my country-source for clicks has been on average, quite simply my US and UK click values have collapsed.
So G, what have you done to fubar the system now?
5:13 pm on Jul 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
Mobile CPC sucking, Desktop CPC normal Tablet CPC excellent.
All balancing out due to high CTR.
Wish mobile was paying more, its like dragging anchor along the bottom.
When Apple comes out with 4.7 and 5 inch screens at the end of the year mobile may improve. Current apple phones are too small.
Maybe Samsung will sue Apple for copying screen size :)
5:46 pm on Jul 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
Yikes, a complete and utter collapse of AdSense and traffic for me today, unbelievably India is my biggest earner at 8 cents a click with hardly any clicks or traffic from anywhere else.
I have no idea what's going on, I've never had summer traffic drops before and checking my ranking positions nothing seems untowards.
I've had several stickies and some others seem to be experiencing the same ... Does anyone have an inkling as to what may be happening or is it maybe just a few niches?
10:27 pm on Jul 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
And just like that, things turn around. In one instance, I've made today, what I made in about 5-7 days before today. Definitely strange. I hope it continues to climb today and that July previously was a blemish and not a trend. Just call me happy sad happy.

I am seeing a new text ad version I have never seen before today. And it's my lowest CTR in a long, long time. The ad version just show I guess what is the description text of the advertiser; and the text font is HUGE! One example showing up for me just says "Free Printable Coupons"....It look terrible.
1:20 am on Jul 13, 2014 (gmt 0)
Wait, even more awful text ads versions in high rotation today. Now I seeing, again, the text ads version that has a 90x90 image left aligned in the text ad. So it's really an image/text ad combo. And the ad showing up the most on my site is for vintage clothing and the image is of a large popcorn in the cardboard container that you purchase at the movies - great work Google. Popcorn and vintage clothing go together great - way to save AdSense and your declining revenues.

Whoever programs those favicons for the ads must be on some serious hallucinogens. I've seen all kinds of weirdness. And just now, on the other side, I'm all up in AdWords grill because they're showing the favicon for Magento Shopping Cart on one of my clients' ads, instead of the clients trademark favicon. And nobody can explain why.

Now I seeing, again, the text ads version that has a 90x90 image left aligned in the text ad.
Well, I've been seeing something like that for eons. Not sure about 90x90 specifically but that size sounds right. Wonder if you're starting to see variations I've been seeing for quite some time. There are some bizarre implementations out there that seem to come and go and I don't think the constant change is conducive to stability unless contradiction is a new form of agreeing with oneself. Instability has been reeking havoc with my designs for many months now and I've grown way beyond tired of it.
I'm thinking Google should just start putting everything in 72 pixel font and get it over with. I'm just not sure what makes them think making titles bigger and bigger is a good idea. I think my viewers can see (and read) these things just fine. But what do I know?

Sunday is the worst day for me CTR wise. What about you guys. Mine dropped 3 folds

CPC prices have been terrible the last 2 days.

I doubt it, my guess is that it will be the use of the power down button.
That aside, July seems business as usual but the last two days have been moderately up. Who knows what causes these ups and downs, I've given up trying to guess the reasons.
Daily changes are irrelevant, weekly changes only of mild interest, monthly changes are the only ones worthy of interest / action. Still, I have to peek a couple of times a day at the stats, can't help it.

Yeah, they broke something on Sunday and it's still broken.

Traffic across some of my sites has gone back to pre Panda 4.0 levels with an overall drop of about 33%.
Actual clicks for the past 5 days have been just below average however EPC, therefore earnings, have been at 50%. Usually when I see this magnitude of drop it only last 3 days however today is looking even worse at the moment with both CTR and EPC even further down.
I reckon there's been an update of some kind.
6:59 pm on Jul 15, 2014 (gmt 0)
Past 3-4 days click/earnings dumps are happening more frequently than usual. I've seen large spikes in clicks/earnings around 9pm EST and then again right at midnight. Annoying, but at the end of the day same earnings as usual.
12:57 pm on Jul 16, 2014 (gmt 0)
Has anyone who has suffered a CTR drop recently noticed whether it's more concentrated in smaller sized text ads?
I have a few 180x150s that used to do quite well but the CTR has tanked recently. From a quick observation it seems that these smaller sizes are being hit harder than the larger ones.
Looks like I need to simply make them slightly bigger to accommodate the arrow changes, font size change etc. I could turn off enhanced ads which would make the font bigger, but it doesn't seem like the way to go.
4:36 pm on Jul 16, 2014 (gmt 0)
If this is my new "norm" then it's bye bye at the end of this month, CTR and EPC abysmal.
9:16 pm on Jul 16, 2014 (gmt 0)
CTR & CPC DEAD for me for the last 4 days. This month I'll do around 35% less revenue compared to june :(
9:58 pm on Jul 16, 2014 (gmt 0)
I really do not know what's happened in the last 2 days, the traffic is stable, but 35% more clicks and higher eCPM! First 2 good days in the last 18 months...

Has anyone had any luck contacting Adsense to stop displaying "Expanded Text Ads"
I have read a couple places that you can contact them and ask to opt out and they will let you.

I was just going to suggest, based on some rumors I got from a friend of a friend of a Gadsense person, that if you saw a sudden decline in the last month or so, and especially if you have a high-paying term, single topic site, try playing with turning off the "Interest-based ads" (from the Gad home pg, under 'allow & block ads') for a day or two to see if it makes a large diff. It defaults to ON when they added it, but as you know Gad does not always know best. Many times you may waste ad space displaying interest ads for something someone just finished buying and they are ready to move on. You can also see the distribution of the two types in 'Performance Reports/Targeting Types'. If you run multiple sites be sure to click the 'add dimension' tab and add by 'site' as a dimension. You may be amazed at the difference. On some type sites it seems to help on others it doesn't. YMMV.

IBA ads have the highest RPM on my sites. I wish I had more of them.

When I read this I thought to myself that it made a lot of sense. I have noticed lots of sites feeding ads back to me for items I've already lost interest in or even already bought. So I blocked IBAs and, at least so far, that's paying off. :)

CPC has been dropping all month long. Down about 25% compared to last month.
