May 2014 AdSense Earnings and Observations

Yesterday (1st May) was the worst day in all my years with Adsense. CPC is in the toilet.

Low clickage so far, but big EPCs; $9+.

 9:53 pm on May 8, 2014 (gmt 0)

Today is really bad; lowest CTR and CPC prices in a long time. Here's hoping reporting is delayed.

 11:44 pm on May 8, 2014 (gmt 0)

Reporting delayed? Nah, for me and many others this programme is fubard beyond belief, I am not getting 1 click an HOUR, how is it possible to go from 40+ an hour to almost nothing?

I'm letting this thing run through until 31st May and then removing it from everything...well, barring an absolute miracle and I KNOW that ain't going to happen!

 2:19 am on May 9, 2014 (gmt 0)

Seeing a lot of double ad serving on the same page. This early in the month seems odd. More Google tinkering.

 5:43 am on May 9, 2014 (gmt 0)

April was bad, May is about the same so far. Decent number of clicks, but money is down.

 4:56 pm on May 9, 2014 (gmt 0)

0 zero nothing, flatlining so far today, twas to be expected after my worst-ever day, not even enough to buy one beer!

 8:24 pm on May 9, 2014 (gmt 0)

a long awaited spring with baseball games and mothers day. this is going to be a rough weekend.

 10:03 pm on May 9, 2014 (gmt 0)

desktop is still horrible for me, 0.30% CTR

 8:51 am on May 10, 2014 (gmt 0)

#*$! just happened with google. I have many websites, but this happened to my biggest one. I had just about 15k unique visits/daily to this particular website. Since yesterday i get 30k/day visits ( yes double). This is an authority website with 2k articles targeting over 2k keywords.

My first guess was : additional traffic comes from one or another kw (this happens sometimes, then people temporarily searches more for some stuff.), but NO!, traffic comes proportionally from all kws like it should. Everything just double.

Second guess : BOTS, but no. I am programmer myself, so i inspect everything, frond end and back end of my server and website. No bots, real human beings. Real visits.

Anyone else experiences same stuff?

Checked all biggest IM forums to see if any google update or other abnormal google activity is happening - yet no!.

Adsense is blooming with money. I hope it sticks.

Sorry for my English, this is my third language.

0 zero nothing, flatlining so far today,

WTF? I logged-in this morning to a completely "normal" April day's metrics, nothing fantastic but at least palatable, however where did this all come from when for the first 9 hours I had absolutely nothing which is bizarre enough in itself?

This programme gets weirder by the day.

 11:47 am on May 10, 2014 (gmt 0)

RedBar - same thing happened to me. Basically all my clicks from yesterday were posted in the reporting overnight. Talk about delayed reporting.

 4:56 pm on May 10, 2014 (gmt 0)

Today so far my affiliate sales are kicking Google's butt :) Which is a good thing.

 5:44 pm on May 10, 2014 (gmt 0)

I'm assuming there was some kind of reporting delay, because yesterday was slow enough that by 10AM this morning I had already surpassed yesterday's numbers.

 7:55 pm on May 10, 2014 (gmt 0)

Dead today.

 8:00 pm on May 10, 2014 (gmt 0)

Today traffic is ok, CTR is ok but EPC is very low. It is 20% of the daily average of May.

 10:08 am on May 12, 2014 (gmt 0)

Sunday ended up as dire as I expected it to be with my US PVs at 45% of the last two month's average and my lowest-ever earning's day however I did get clicks, not my lowest-ever clicks day, simply my lowest-ever EPC day since September 2012...yuk!

 1:27 pm on May 12, 2014 (gmt 0)

not my lowest-ever clicks day, simply my lowest-ever EPC day since September 2012

CPC was very low yesterday and my site has nearly 100% US traffic. Traffic levels were about average for a Sunday but CTR was also in the toilet. Had a great day out with my favorite mother so consider the day a great success but for reasons other than Adsense. Now, it's back to the grindstone.

 7:05 pm on May 12, 2014 (gmt 0)

Here's a May observation: Reporting is very delayed during the day pretty much consistently MTD.

 7:09 pm on May 12, 2014 (gmt 0)

Also, Interest Based Ads is having a terrible month for me. CTR is WAY down (down about 50% compared to the last 6 month average) and CPC down, but not down nearly as much as CTR.

 3:48 pm on May 13, 2014 (gmt 0)

Other than some bot activity unrelated to AdSense, I am having a very good month so far.

 5:15 pm on May 13, 2014 (gmt 0)

Looks like the last month of AdSense for me, USD 1.00 per 700 PVs so far today...crap.

 10:09 pm on May 13, 2014 (gmt 0)

desktop has slightly recovered for me after some tweaks to the layout and ad units. very decent month so far and things seem to be picking up.

 7:52 am on May 14, 2014 (gmt 0)

Yesterday was a good day for me @ adsense, this is curious...

ADX still sux badly

 10:43 am on May 14, 2014 (gmt 0)

It's the EPC that's killing me now, 77.8% v April 1-13, the one bit of good news is that the last couple of days' PVs have come back to average, all those blooming early May holidays and whatevers seem to have destroyed all semblance of normality.

 1:23 pm on May 14, 2014 (gmt 0)

Low EPC was a problem for me earlier this month but it's bounced back the last few days a bit. I'm seeing some decent sized clicks as of late. Mother's Day was terrible (even with fairly normal traffic for a Sunday) but I've not seen so many 6 cent clicks in a long time than I was seeing earlier this month. Targeting was hogwash but not too back these last few days.

Mobile, which had tanked badly is also back to normal levels. This is probably due to changes on my end but more on that another time.

 1:56 pm on May 14, 2014 (gmt 0)

Super low CPC today... last 2 days have been really low as well

 4:45 am on May 15, 2014 (gmt 0)

What an absolute bust. In the past I would wake up in the morning and have double what I have after a full today nowadays. The temptation is to fiddle with everything to problem solve.

 5:45 am on May 16, 2014 (gmt 0)

Given the turmoil, I'm happy with earnings today. First day this week I can say that.

As an aside I noticed a real lull in the adsense stuck thread. Is this because like me, things are just bad, not stuck? As in, stuck means it should pull out of the tailspin during the day. Am I reading too much into it? Meh.

 4:37 pm on May 16, 2014 (gmt 0)

I have been noticing an increase of double ad serving on both & image ads the last few days. Nothing screams "ads" more than double ad serving on the same page - well done Google!

 9:00 pm on May 16, 2014 (gmt 0)

Can't speak to every ad size and format but right now but...

Display Only is kicking Text Only's proverbial butt. Not even close. Of course, Text Only is doing so poorly, it's no surprise but still, this is a slaughter.

My historically best unit (a 250 x 250 Text Only) got so bad, I finally went all display and who knows, maybe I'm getting some magazine ads in the mix, but Display clicks are blowing away anything I've seen with that unit in weeks. YRMV

 2:06 pm on May 17, 2014 (gmt 0)

Yes! Two decent days in a row. Today I've woken up to something reasonable and hopeful.
