Friday something happened
Without a doubt, my click volume equalled my lowest-ever with my lowest-ever CTR and then Saturday my CTR was only marginally higher with the same click volume...these were about 50% of average.
However, and this is a huge HOWEVER for me, for the first time EVER I only had clicks from the USA!
Normally the USA accounts for ~50% of my earnings, strange that my clicks were ~50% down, WTF happened? No one in my niche world outside of the USA was clicking?
Now that I find very hard to believe!

Addendum - On Friday and Saturday my email volume was almost zero even from spammers and I'm used to getting hundreds a day. Why that would have anything to do with AdSense I have no idea but it's rather coincidental.
11:55 am on Apr 6, 2014 (gmt 0)
Down 52.9% on same week last month. Looks like something is banjaxed again.

Updating my situation. Yesterday was an earning which is normal and what I expect to see daily. However, the days starting April were horrific. This isn't a traffic loss issue. There is something more to this imo. I wonder if there is such a thing as spam ads. In effect, my site was showing rubbish to the point that Adsense earning appeared broken. It's either that or the ads were slow to load. I haven't heard theories about ad displaying issues, but that may be another cause. When looking at my site briefly, I was suspicious about ads load time.
Summary: It's very turbulent these days.

Yesterday was a good day clicks wise but CPC seems to have dropped by half, so earnings were below average..
1:59 pm on Apr 7, 2014 (gmt 0)
Shockingly low earnings really. Traffic is steady but CPC is in a nosedive. Yahoo/Bing is probably taking away Google's revenue and we are getting hit.

Yahoo/Bing is probably taking away Google's revenue and we are getting hit.
Not in my widget sector, hardly anyone is using YahBing. Talking to people globally in my industry there is a general malaise and despondency about the future, many long-time advertisers are no longer doing it therefore the bidding price goes down.

my April earnings so far (in one word) - DEAD!
12:42 pm on Apr 8, 2014 (gmt 0)
Almost to the penny the same as last April so far. Odd.
7:41 pm on Apr 8, 2014 (gmt 0)
Today is a little better so far, otherwise dead this month. Facebook referrals are down.
8:45 pm on Apr 8, 2014 (gmt 0)
Interest based ads RPM continues to fall steadily. And it's not CTR; that's the same or better than 12 month average. But the CPC prices are down around 50%.
11:47 pm on Apr 8, 2014 (gmt 0)
March to April is currently at -34%
Traffic is the same. CTR is the same. Drop is completely due to lower paying ads and Google "claw back" throughout the day.
I have US traffic, 90%+ of it from Google's search engine, in high paying niches but I am seeing a lot of junk ads and a horror RPM.
I used to make $5000+ a month from Adsense.
Now I am considering dumping the program, low single digits RPMs are becoming the norm. It is a joke.

Nice couple days on weekend. Monday was a near bottom out total, and total is moving like a slug. I'm going into my ads and blocking. I can't think this is anything else. There must be some type of ad spam/junk ads showing up in big volume which is choking off my earnings. I don't normally see such a drastic weekend to weekday dropoff.
10:59 am on Apr 9, 2014 (gmt 0)
since i got click bombed for 4 weeks, now no more bombing, but income is now 10% of normal now, based on last 12 months
adsense is so broken, problem is, google don't give a flying #*$! anymore, just another case of them filling their pockets any way they can , despite major issues
12:29 pm on Apr 9, 2014 (gmt 0)
Absolutely awesome today Google:
Spain 1 click
Lithuania 1 click
Vietnam 2 clicks
Yesterday's USA CTR was horrific at 43% of US average, what on earth is going on?
1:34 pm on Apr 9, 2014 (gmt 0)
Absolutely dire for me at the moment.
2:18 pm on Apr 9, 2014 (gmt 0)
Yesterday, with a normal traffic day (99.9% US visits) and a normal amount of clicks, the main site brought in almost double the daily average of the last two months so CPC was obviously high. Again, I'm going to chalk this up to more locally-targeted advertising on this site generally.
@Redbar -- I'm not sure how a site that attracts visitors from every corner of the planet is going to be seen as a target for local ads from anywhere and this MAY BE contributing to the differences in results we are experiencing. It's not possible to narrow a site's focus in every case but just as niche is a type of focus, so is geography. If, as I suspect, that local advertising is driving growth on my main site, then I attribute that to the continental geographic targeting the site enjoys (thanks to the many many hours of programming, configuring and content shaping it took to achieve).

seen as a target for local ads
I'm fairly sure that you are correct, Google seems to be having a major issue with local v int ads therefore has Google now become the local ad centre whereas it used to be international?
Certainly there are widget advertisers who use global and I'm pretty sure that local is working reasonably accurately in some countries, and where the advertiser has AdWords sussed, and isn't advertising to all and sundry.
It is very evident that for many, many countries I have never, ever received a single click even when I have had thousands of PVs from a country over the years G has been supplying that info.
At times G just seems to be hell-bent on banging more nails into their coffin lid for some widget sectors and is very apparent when reviewing their financials for publishers.

It seems all Internet advertising is down since April 1. I work with AdSense and networks. The networks are blaming the end of the quarter is the reason for low numbers.
9:58 pm on Apr 9, 2014 (gmt 0)
Are you sure it started on April 1? Mine was March 1st.
8:07 am on Apr 10, 2014 (gmt 0)
I had an OK month in March, better than Jan, Feb but April has been absolutely brutal 41.4 % same day below March and March wasnt even that good, was about 25-33% below what I was getting last year... CPC seems to have dropped and CTR for me.
7:19 pm on Apr 10, 2014 (gmt 0)
What is going on today? Stats must be very delayed because it's showing much, much less than normal 1/2 way through today.
12:55 am on Apr 11, 2014 (gmt 0)
April up until yesterday was incredible. Yesterday and today are so bad they are going to drag down the entire month.
3:27 am on Apr 11, 2014 (gmt 0)
Yeah April 1 for me. I've had 1 good day since April 1.
These RPMs are a historical low for me and I have been using the Adsense program for years. Ridiculously low.
Suddenly low single digit RPMs are the norm for me, looking at other networks now.
7:58 am on Apr 11, 2014 (gmt 0)
Yes.... payment is going down each day since 1st of April.
7:28 pm on Apr 11, 2014 (gmt 0)
Fridays are rapidly becoming my worst day of the week, this will be the fourth in succession, PVs so far ~33%, clicks ~20%, CTR 60%, CPC 68%, RPM 41% & Earnings 14.8% ... Diabolical, where on earth is all the traffic?
11:49 am on Apr 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
Is there a party going on I haven't been invited to?
No posts here for 24 hours plus, at the moment the Google SEO News and Discussion is down...WTF is going on?
My traffic totally died Friday and ended up close to some of its worst metrics and today is even worse...has someone switched off the WWW?
2:33 pm on Apr 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
People be busy.
2:41 pm on Apr 12, 2014 (gmt 0)
school holidays + nice weather in the northern hemisphere...
I saw a patterns since last year.
A lot of big (bad) changes are started in those calm periods.
So, brace yourself for another calamity this Easter (2)+ April) !
We are long overdue for a Penguin update and I see a lot of 2005+ pages crawled all over the internet (reports of 404 error in WMT).
8:23 am on Apr 13, 2014 (gmt 0)
Saturday figured are incredible low!
I had a 30% decrease in eCPM!
10:05 am on Apr 13, 2014 (gmt 0)
Whatever they've done to the SERPs I hope is reversed soon, it was easily my worst-ever day.
Apart from EPC everything set new lows, PVs at 50%, clicks at 30%, earnings at 25%, an almost complete annihilation of my sites and utterly pointless in displaying AdSense.
The culprit is the SERPs, they've absolutely fubard my sector, not just for me, almost everyone in my industry has been well and truly stuffed, great job G!
