I'm starting the March earnings thread as it may be my last month with Non-Sense.

CTR was dropping so I went to only text ads across all sites...

CTR dropping even more now.

It's bad today. But I expected it to be bad; the people that set the next budget won't be back to work until Monday.

Well those who take earnings back are at work 24/7. Having an awful day here.

Seems like things froze up about mid-day here. Wonder if there are some reporting delays but no red bar just to keep us guessing. Ads are all over the place so that could be part of the problem. Haven't seen any take backs but this is uncharacteristically off, even for a Saturday.

I set up a database and can just copy and paste the performance reports into it. Clicks increased until about 10pm (PST) when they started to be dragged back. Peak was 14. Then 13. Now it's 12. All from the bottom banner. This is almost completely isolated from the rest of the pages and is almost always lower in both clicks and CTC from the top banner. $8.07 was peak "earnings" now down to $6.90.

I recommend that everyone who is getting clicks dragged back keep track of what product, how much, and time. I am using Linux with a not taking database called "cherrytree". Works pretty slick.

Mine are horrible. I am thinking of moving to a new business all together.

*I used to earn USD 1000 every month from JAN 2010-FEB 2012.
*Earnings dropped to USD 600 from MAR 2012-OCT 2013.
*Now earnings are less than USD 500 since then.

I am done now. I am going to leave the sites as they are now.

Ok... my site has done a 180 and is now doing as well as, or better than, it has ever done in terms of traffic, clicks and earnings. Not only that but for the first time since last summer we are under 1 million in Alexa ranking.

But something is still "up" with clicks and scrape-backs. Not to the extent it was in February but it still exists. But it does look like it's more reasonable now and actually just scraping back accidental clicks and not everything.

I am going to start another thread about closer monitoring of performance reports.

You know this isn't a true measurement of traffic, right? Only Alexa toolbar users visiting your site are counted, which last I heard is an extremely small percentage of internet users.

At any rate, two days of bad earnings here. 29 days left to see whether or not AdSense is being removed from my sites.

Yes, I know that it's not a true measurement... but it's *a* measurement that somewhat compares one site with others. Is there anything that's "true"?

No, but you can use a number of tools like Alexa, Compete, SEMRush and others and at least get an idea.

Insofar as I can trust my stats, everything's just about normal. But of course, I cant trust my stats, so we'll see. Traffic's way up at least.

Let's just say that I crashed through the $2 barrier several times today and leave it at that.

I'm pretty juiced with March so far. I have a bit more zest in my step (nothing to do with increased earnings) which I hope translates into greener pastures. I'm looking for big money in March.

I suspect that there may be more than a few publishers who don't actually have a clear idea how a "bot" works in conjunction with click fraud.

This is an excellent explanation along with an example of a specific click bot showing how it works with one (or more) associated C&C (Command and Control) servers: [icsi.berkeley.edu...]

Knowing how they work could better help us recognize them. Especially when we use better user analytics (instead of concentrating on earnings analytics).

(Edit: I posted this in the wrong thread. My apologies. It's still interesting enough to publishers to leave here. I'll repost this in the appropriate place)

Watch for clicks on high bid ads. On my site yesterday I noticed that any CPC that was suddenly higher than other bids for different ads on the same pages was invariably called back. This was not the only reason, however. I had lots of 29-cent clicks taken back but in general every suddenly higher CPC was deleted.

Much better start the first few days of March than the average day in February.

My earning's graph looks like something falling off a cliff, CTR is way, way, way down, traffic looks normal.

Yet another inauspicious start to a month with, so far, earnings at about 21% v last 10 days of February daily average.

Again I crashed through the $2 barrier several times. Just amazing. How Google will make money this way is beyond me; because I certainly can't.

Monday ended up at half of last week, one of my lowest days of the year. Significantly the USA was way down in click volume and earnings nearly in third place.

How Google will make money this way is beyond me

I've come to the conclusion they don't want many of us now, heaven's knows how they can justify their new USD $1 Billion building in London with this type of performance but, then again, obviously someone must be spending and earning!

netmeg's taking it all:-)

Really horrible numbers here since March 1st. I've never seen anything this low in years. I don't know what's going on. Very frustrating.

WTF is happening?

4 clicks so far today totalling just over $1.00, this programme is so fubard it's unreal...if this continues for the rest of today I'll be removing AdSense overnight.

Ridiculous Google, absolutely farcical.

Yesterday was my best day ever but it also felt like it was the result of a click dump. Was just coming off a 36 hour stretch with zero clicks wich is also abnormal. CTR and CPC were all normal for yesterday. I seem to get regular click dumps each monday these days.

I'm going in that direction too, I just cannot comprehend how it's possible to go from USD $300+ per day to $1.00 so far today?

If my business were solely reliant upon AdSense/Google it would have been closed a couple of years ago at least.

Although my data is scanty, I think I'm seeing some sort of pattern where all the clicks after about 7pm get rolled back so that, at the end of the day, whatever we had at 7pm is what we end up with (plus a few pennies for "impressions").
