October 2013 AdSense Earnings and Observations
Haunting Tales of AdSense That Would Spook Any Webmaster!

 6:08 pm on Oct 1, 2013 (gmt 0)

Good bye September! What will October bring? Ups, downs, and everything in-between...

 9:11 pm on Oct 1, 2013 (gmt 0)

Is it really a game? Ok, what has seven letters, begins with "ad" and ends with "sense" (as in, "this makes no sense")?

My earnings observation for the day is that my monthly total started off at $0.00. Astute readers will recognize at least one implied fact from this statement. Either my company just started working the program and have yet to make any money or, we earned a paycheck for the last month and are off to the races again. The total is above zero now and I'm just glad to have this thread so I could get that off my chest.

What will this month offer up? Indeed!

 9:29 pm on Oct 1, 2013 (gmt 0)

September wasn't too shabby. Too soon to tell for October earnings. Will post in about a week.

 9:49 pm on Oct 1, 2013 (gmt 0)

I'll sum this up on a rtme:
The end of Sept was good for me, but today is a dead as dead can be.

 2:41 am on Oct 2, 2013 (gmt 0)

tons of ad impressions are not showing up in the stats

tons of ad impressions are not showing up in the stats

Stats have been whacked out all day. Earnings are being finalized and G is rolling out new stuff at the same time. Either one is capable of messing things up. Waiting for the dust to settle.

Getting the red bar today. Anybody else?

We're sorry, some data in this report is delayed, please try again later. There's no impact to ad serving or payments.

stuck for me

 11:15 pm on Oct 2, 2013 (gmt 0)

Just wondering if anyone else has been having problems with adsense stats not updating today?

 12:44 am on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

It was stuck for the last 5-6 hours. Kind of click dump in the last 30 minutes, but still behind of the average for this time of the day.

 1:03 am on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

Thanks, corresponds with what is going on for me as well...

 10:34 am on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday never recovered. Lowest earnings in months, even lower than the weird Sept 22 crash. Here's to hoping today is better!

 3:39 pm on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

yesterday was disappointing for a wednesday. was down 15% of average. today doesn't look any better

 6:22 pm on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday also, didn't recover fully.
Today in the morning I was above the average, maybe some click dump from yesterday.
Now again, clicks and page views are way behind my stats with statcounter.

 6:30 pm on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

Logged in today to a huge "earnings warning sign" that my earnings are 67% down on forecast. Which is helpful. Now perhaps they will tell me what to do about it!

 7:05 pm on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

Now again, clicks and page views are way behind my stats with statcounter.

Adsense stats have been stuck for a couple of hours (clicks and revenue). Adsense stats in Analytics are increasing though so I can see that things are still moving. Adsense will catch up eventually.

 10:46 pm on Oct 3, 2013 (gmt 0)

High earnings for the last few days. RPM like the good old days.

Decided to go all in with ad serving settings except "show +1 related features" Seeing lots of image ads but the bottom line is looking good.

 8:26 am on Oct 4, 2013 (gmt 0)

I hope that the advertisers are keeping the money for December.
October has very low eCPM for me.

 1:24 pm on Oct 4, 2013 (gmt 0)

It's too early to draw any conclusions about October. One quarter and month just ended, another just began.

 5:22 pm on Oct 4, 2013 (gmt 0)

Is adsense stuck? Doesn't seem to have moved for 2-3 hours for me. Anyone else?

 6:16 pm on Oct 4, 2013 (gmt 0)

Not stuck here having a great day. Enjoying while it lasts.

 6:37 pm on Oct 4, 2013 (gmt 0)

stuck for me for about 1~2 hours.

 6:48 pm on Oct 4, 2013 (gmt 0)

Im about 50 % below revenue from where I was last month.... CPC is about 50 % less which i suppose makes sense to why im so much lower... pretty gutted but im use to the adsense roller coaster

 7:45 pm on Oct 5, 2013 (gmt 0)

Ug...all I can say. :(

 9:04 pm on Oct 5, 2013 (gmt 0)

Gotta say this month is getting off to a great start but it took a lot of work to be able to say that. New text ads just aren't performing as well as the old-style ads did and are dragging the bottom line down generally. Decent CPC is helping a bit (even with a government shutdown in progress) but finding additional revenue opportunities across 5 million plus pages is what has completely offset this trend to the extend that revenue over the last 10 days or so is almost double what it's been for the last several months. The moral of this story may be that making money and staying in the proverbial "game" means working your tail off and trying to think outside the box a bit. I would argue though that this is definitely not a "game" and resting on your laurels (something I try never to do) could very well prove to be a disastrous strategy. I'm trying to not be too reactionary on a day to day basis right now but when something like text ad CTR tanks for as long as it has, it's definitely time to do something.

I'm certain many publishers are looking for answers (which might explain the near dead silence in this forum recently). Of course it probably doesn't help that the vast majority of comments these days are complaints about revenues dropping.

The sad fact is that when someone says essentially "my day sucked" it's pretty much impossible to offer any suggestions without just guessing at what part of their strategy sucks and would benefit from some suggestions from others. I would submit to you that if you actually want some help in working through your current problems, it might help if you actually gave people enough information to be able to offer some suggestions. Of course if complaining is your only reason for posting, then I hope it makes you feel better and this is apparently the place to do it.

The point here is that there are some very real reasons why things aren't looking so good for many publishers right now (some are completely outside your control and others at least offer some flexibility in how you might approach the problem). My perspective is that if you're interested in finding a solution to a current dilemma rather than just wallowing in it, sharing the actual details of the problem with others of like mind is a good first step to getting somewhere. The power of a community is to be able to synthesize knowledge and experience for the benefit of all. Collaboration is a beautiful thing.

And those are my Adsense Earnings and Observations for today.

 6:12 pm on Oct 6, 2013 (gmt 0)

My yesterday's Adsense earning have been going up and down the whole day.

 6:19 pm on Oct 6, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday was strange for me as well. Up and down, then bottomed out. Just awful, and today looks no better.

6:54 p.m. -- Eastern Adsense Panel not responding, Analytic Panel stalled, googlesyndication and doubleclick stalled. Wonder what just changed up in G-land? Seems to have lasted about a minute the first time. Recovered and now it's doing it again a few minutes later. Anybody else see this and/or noticed similar behavior today. CTR today seems abnormally low generally and I mean abnormally low after factoring in the the decline from the new text ad formats.
