Async Code Testing

Has anyone started using their async code that is still under beta?

I am making the switch and I am wondering if anyone has had negative or positive experiences with it.

I had problems with it loading other iframes on the page into the adslot running async. I ran it for a few days to test it but just pulled it because of this. The other iframe would overlay the ad iframe.

I emailed our Google rep about it months ago and never heard back on a fix so reinstated it a few days ago and it was still doing it. Doesn't look like they are doing much about it.

Do you mean that you placed your ad code within an iframe on the site? What is the other iframe? The ad code is inserting an iframe onto the page?

No, I used the async code and it PULLED another iframe into it from the site. The async code DOES create an iframe on the page, that's how it works. however, for whatever reason it has issues with other iframes on the same page.

After using the code for a day or 2. I find it worthwhile. Although it threw the ad impression count out of whack for some of the ad units.

Does anyone else experience this?

Do some split tests (A/B testing) on the code and you will know. Some of my sites like the async code, some not.

Use this code:

<?php $splitpoint = rand( 1, 100 ); ?>

<?php if( $splitpoint > 50 ){ ?>

Adsense block Synchronous

<?php } else { ?>

Adsense block ASynchronous

<?php } ?>

Remember. Don't change anything else, just one variable at a time.

@getcooking, I really appreciate the insight. I pulled my async codes a couple days after reading what you said. I just can't remember which other sites I converted! I need to check my notes.

I will say this. In no way am I pasting "beta" anything when there is a non beta version available. Do I need to lose a penny because of some glitch? I'm having enough trouble as it is.

Regarding my own A/B, it's too early to say. The past two days have been "normal" whereas previously I would say results were far from "normal" or "stable".

Perhaps there is a benefit, as I'm sure there is. Thing is, can you prove that you made more money because of the code or did you lose money because of the "beta" issues?

To me it was a bad idea, but I will at least repost if my earning go back to "wacky". I'm mad at myself for not changing back earlier, but mark that up to a learning experience.

As they say, "your results may vary".
