I have a relatively big site that is monetized through Adsense (with AdExchange) and a couple of big CPM networks.
We use channels on Adsense to advertise who we are to advertisers and on AdExchange we use branded and anonymous campaigns with CPMs set relatively low (around the 1 dollar mark).
I recent swapped my mobile advertising from 320x50 to 300x250. Yesterday I was contacted by someone wanting to run a 320x250 campaign for the rest of this month and next month. It turns out they were buying the campaign through Adsense and because I removed the size they wanted they contacted me directly.
They are offering $3.50 for that campaign for 1 million US impressions. I said yes and created a new line item in DFP for them.
So - my question is: with 95% of our AdExchange bids being on branded not anonymous impressions, am I hobbling my direct sales by letting Google show my brand through AdEx and Adsense? I don't want to risk turning off all branded sales to see what happens so I thought I would ask here first.
