Interesting.

Traffic is up.

Ad clicking WAY down.

Nothing's changed.

Except: I edited a lot of the categories about six days ago of what ads to show, blocking the underperforming categories and doing away with the controversial sections, like astrology ads. I got rid of the underperformers, kept the overperforming sections. Why keep all that crap? Nobody's clicking on it, or they *rarely* are.

The result is disaster.

So, I changed it all back yesterday. No positive changes observable, yet.

I really think if you get a good wave of good ads, that makes all the difference. But if you get a bunch of "Cheap Hip Replacement" ads, you're kinda screwed. My favorite is the "Click here for Free Internet Television." I'd be happy if those ran all day.

I don't know what's happening. It's a little distressing. I was doing so well, and then traffic goes up a little, and now this. I'm not panicking, just sharing.

We gotta start chipping in. If it hits seven, Leo gets a prize.

For one thing, they've started to discard our own impressions. I wonder if they are now discarding our (Adsense users) impressions/clicks on other websites.

For many months now I've adopted a no tinkering policy with my Adsense. I just let them show what they want to, and I've no idea what people see, because it seems to serve up a lot of interest based ads. My EPC is the highest it's ever been, which is just as well as I lost a lot of traffic at the beginning of the year. Sometimes it's less stressful not to fret, and let Google just be itself. Fiddling or not fiddling seems to make no difference.

I've noticed the more I think about it and check it, the less they click.

The days I haven't paid any attention have been the best days. It's like my nervous energy is seeping through the sites and people are picking up on it.

I keep trying to click on your ads, really I do, but the last few days I've had this horrible flu virus and everytime I reach for the mouse
Aa-aaaa-aa-choooo !

and off I am to some unintended internet location with no free tv or anything.

A watched pot never boils.

An unwatched pot always boils over.
