More of the same yo-yoing?

What crazy things have they planned for us this month?

Yesterday was an "ideal" AdSense day, solely in the context of good CTR, good EPC resulting in good eCPM.

Just the usual lousy traffic for the last whatever months. I expect the "copycats" are booming.

> 3:00pm - Earnings and click count unchanged for the last five hours. Stuck.

6:00pm now, still unchanged.

I'm going to start removing ads completely from my smaller sites today since Google no longer serves any purpose on some of them and will consider over this next week what to do with the remainder.

This will be my last post, nearly reached 6,000 this time, I must be mellowing in my old age!

With pageviews continuing to rise, and CTR continuing to crater over the past week to ten days, I've changed all ads over from all text to all image based. We'll see how this goes.

Yesterday was my second highest earnings day all month, go figure. May $ now is about 30% over April, yay. Of course, there's still the "Finalized Earnings" to look forward to. Hopefully, most of the gains stick.

@littlecubpanda, FYI - selecting both image and text ads will increase your CPC.

@littlecubpanda, it's good for you to test, for my particular niche, I get about 25% more earnings by doing image only. test test and test

I made some changes this month that seem to be working well.

1. I blocked all interest based ads.

2. I turned off third party networks.

3. I changed to a 728x90 banner at the top, and two 160x600 banners on the side.

4. Left 160 is image only, 728x90 is image only, but the right 160 is text only.

This seems to be working well in terms of clicks and CPC. Readers get two image ads to click, and a nice selection of text only links as well.

I wish I'd blocked the stupid interest ads, and the useless third party networks a long time ago. Contextual ads only really seems to work best for my visitors.

Yesterday earnings all but stopped moving by around noon. Another weird reporting day from AdSense.

@ fumanchu...

I just did the same for all my sites. Turned off interest based and third party ads.

Changed everything to text and image based (before it was almost all text-only. I tested image-only for a day but changed it back).

I had a decent weekend, but traffic is still going up and while CTRs recovered a little bit, it's not keeping up with traffic.

Hopefully these changes will help.

This is so upsetting.

My hits and page views are just going up and up, but CTR is just going down.

I turned off interest based and third party ads.

No difference. I individually went through and blocked a lot of bad, ridiculous ads I can't image anyone could click on.

I don't get what the difference is.

My page is the same. The ad locations are about the same. But... now it's just turning to crap compared to a month ago. CTRs were so much higher.

I'm still making a little money, but it should be higher.

Sometimes I wonder if people just get in this "mood" where they don't want to click ads. Maybe it's the weather or planets. Who knows. It has to all come together rather magically -- right person, perfect ad. You know? If it doesn't, you're done, you've lost that person.

I turned interest based and third party ads back on. Screw it.

There may be an issue with the kind of traffic you are getting. Many people's traffic is going down, but yours is going up. Why? Is it the same quality as before? If not, it might explain the declining CTR.

It's good traffic all from the same sources (SEs), mostly if not entirely new visitors. My page rankings improved a bit, so that explains the increased traffic.
