May 2013 AdSense Earnings and Observations
More of the same yo-yoing?

 12:57 pm on May 1, 2013 (gmt 0)

What crazy things have they planned for us this month?

 9:29 am on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

i am usually making only 2-3 a day but yesturday made 20 , ctr 2.57% , cpc 0.53, 46 clicks. i'm sure some clicks gave me about 3. i wish i was getting these results every day :(
i know i need a higher ctr hopefully it will get better.

 11:02 am on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday never recovered. Pretty hard to believe. According to AdSense, yesterday was the lowest ad requests, clicks, CTR all month, yet Google Analytics and AWStats showed above normal numbers. WTF is going on?

 2:48 pm on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

i don't believe their stats at all

for example on 24th i had 10k ad requests
on 25th i had 5k a.r.

analytics shows 1% traffic difference between 2 days

where the hell are the rest of ad requests? no advertisers, blank ads...? i have only one 728x90 on that site so there shouldn't be a problem displaying at least one ad

 3:08 pm on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

> where the hell are the rest of ad requests?

That's the part that doesn't make sense to me too. I can understand (unlikely as it seems) that ads weren't clicked yesterday, but to report they weren't shown at all? That just doesn't square.

 4:02 pm on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday was best day of the year so far. So in May I have had the best and worst day of the year all wrapped up in one month.

Today looks promising but with the Memorial day holiday it will probably fizzle out in the afternoon.

 6:09 pm on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

tim: good for you! at least someone is doing fine

Since Penguin 2: mornings are dead slow if any click at all. The afternoon appears really slow but at night numbers go up a bit. I'm not having the low numbers I had since March or specially the beginning of May, so I'm up but not as near the numbers of before March 2013 and not even in a dream, near previous years.

Ads and stats... besides seeing Japanese ads there were just too many Adwords ads taking 100% of space from the ad slot. I blocked them.

Been seeing ads about money and stuff that I don't like producing 0.1xx% of my earnings while having too much impressions (to my taste) but the Adsense panel says that category it's too broad to block so in my case I can't block it :( there they are.

 7:07 pm on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

I've had the same problem all month. Hardly any clicks showing in the stats for the entire morning. Picks up a little in the afternoon, but still really, really low, and then the numbers pick up overnight. The reporting has never been like that before, so why are they changing things.
Jan, Feb, March were great months. April wasn't terrible, but May is downright awful.

 8:28 pm on May 26, 2013 (gmt 0)

That's the pattern I'm seeing as well. A few clicks in the morning, then zilch for the rest of the day. Usually more clicks come in in the evening, but not always. Sometimes, the early clicks I get is all there is for the day. Overall, May has been a very weird AdSense month. Oddly enough it's somehow already beat April, so at least on that front I'm happier. Hopefully they'll stop turning the knobs so much come June!

 12:29 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

Historically, May, June, July and August have never been particularly great months for myself, so to be fair I wasn't expecting miracles, but the reporting of the stats are very weird this month, and I didn't expect to get hit quite so much.

 3:49 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

In my case May was a very good month for me, Decenmber was on the lowest, so I figure with this numbers Dec 2013 will be terrible for sure.

Yesterday 26 May didn't end so low, it's getting better but really, really, really slow! and not near the usual average. Let's see.

 3:52 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

Thanks explorador, i hope your adsense is going well also.

I had 24 clicks yesturday , my highest paying countries seem to be US + UK getting and around 0.30-0.50 cpc. Today is awful so far only 4 clicks , my best performing ad block is 300x250 , 728x90 is also good. Hopefully things will pick up

 5:13 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

Had a couple of dicey CTR days last weeek, but now things are really rolling.

Lookin' good, Louis!

 5:20 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

> but now things are really rolling.

Amazing netmeg. Always good to know one person that is still doing well. Hope springs eternal!

 6:21 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

Amazing indeed.

 9:05 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

Quick post from me ... I'm in Germany right now and all I can say is:

1. The ad targeting totally sucks on my sites

2. The ad serving is so slow it is unreal, many times nothing appears

Now I know why I see such discrepancies and data loss.

Bad Google, extremely bad.

That explains a lot.

BTW, my stats show growing mobile traffic, but many won't display ads, a lot of people are using Opera Mini (I use it myself on my phone and on my tablet) no Adsense there.

 10:42 pm on May 27, 2013 (gmt 0)

Maybe it's Memorial Day related, but today's CTR is the lowest all month. Hope it picks up.

 5:41 am on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

Finally, a good day!

 6:20 am on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

Bad monday, very slow...
I hope is a Memorial Day problem...

 10:35 am on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

Slight uptick in earnings yesterday to best the previous four days. Hope the upward trend continues for awhile. Long ways to go.

 3:03 pm on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday: decent at last! not normal anyway but a lot better.

HP mentioned the problem of ads in Germany
G is about to allow us to modify the code (hosting it too?)
Yesterday FINALLY ad impressions are near traffic stats

So, is something broken with G? (penguin unrelated?)
do they have too much load to fulfill server and ad requests?

 3:25 pm on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

below average yesterday with more traffic than ever, just stupid

 3:51 pm on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

Killer weekend but kinda slow today click-wise. Traffic good, AdSense, not so much.

 5:07 pm on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday was a joke, but today looks promising, assuming G doesn't take it all away.

 7:18 pm on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

Today is shaping up very well, but too little too late this stage of the month.

 8:51 pm on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

i'm testing new ad unit, and 6 hours later still nothing in reports, combine that with the lowest ctr ever, today could be the worst day in history

 10:42 pm on May 28, 2013 (gmt 0)

In Germany for another 5-6 days and I've been experimenting tonight and simply cannot believe the problems I've been having.

My sites are all fast, I still try to keep pages under 100k and they're all in flat css/html.

At the moment I'm on my laptop which seems to work ok but AdSense ads are still slow to render HOWEVER tablet pcs are horrendous for many sites and ads.

My sites render extremely fast however all others do not appear whatsoever, including WebmasterWorld, and AdSense ads even on my sites rarely load fully and yes, I tried it just to see how atrocious things were, 99% of landing pages did not display whatsoever.

Whether this is a tablet thing I have no idea other than MY SITES WORKED PERFECTLY except for AdSense not displaying regularly!

This is not a caching thing, this is a total failure of many sites PLUS AdSense not to load on these devices ... I've tried it with three tabs so far and it is far from a good user experience ... late 90s or early 00s BOO come to mind.

Wednesday I am supposed to be on a super-quick wireless network ... we'll see, however if I have problems, not with my sites but with many others, what the hell is the point of us working our asses off when intended users can't even get to the sites they want to and then when they do click ads and cannot get to a landing page?

Oh, and another thing, I typed into Google.de my main widget trade keyword in GERMAN and ended up with a page of FRENCH results ... Yeah G, you're totally infallible, I trust you no end!

I have to say that I have never had this type of problem in the UK, US, India or China therefore am I missing something simple?

 2:12 am on May 29, 2013 (gmt 0)

stats for the new ad unit i'm testing are finally visible after 9-10 hours, and i had one (lol) high paying click there, but i checked later and it's gone, and half of impessions too

i'm pretty sure it was click from canada, so if they don't like canadian clicks what can i say about other countries? no wonder they remove at least half of my clicks daily from various countries, they can do whatever they want sadly.

i wish they show us where the invalid clicks came from so i can change the sites, pages, ads, whatever... now i'm wasting site's space with some ads probably, but hey advertisers at least get free clicks, perfect combination for them, who cares about publishers?

i'm heading for the new record for the worst day :) actually 2 records, earnings and ctr

 6:41 am on May 29, 2013 (gmt 0)

A solid day here, goodness knows I've had very few of them in the month of May.

 10:15 am on May 29, 2013 (gmt 0)

Wednesday I am supposed to be on a super-quick wireless network ... we'll see

I'm pleased to report that the super-quick is nearly as good as my own:-)

The problem I am still having though is ad relevancy or seeing the same ad repeated over and over and over again plus the quantity of affiliate ads is unreal.

I don't think that some US widget trade advertisers would be overly impressed that their ads are showing here either!

 11:27 am on May 29, 2013 (gmt 0)

Yesterday earnings again were up slightly. Not sure why, almost don't care anymore.
