Oh err, so it is, CTR looks like a disaster zone at the moment.
7:45 pm on Aug 16, 2012 (gmt 0)
That's what I thought Slashus, but for the past few days, mine never recovered. In all my years I haven't seen such a radical turnaround. Pageviews normal, EPC good, but clicks are freezing for hours, and then just continue as they were, with no subsequent click-dump. Something's wrong.
7:52 pm on Aug 16, 2012 (gmt 0)
Data loss, it has to be...I'm not even averaging one click an hour!.!.!

No update in hours, maybe by tomorrow stats will catch up
6:12 am on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
and back down it goes. :-(
Unless there's a miracle in the next 45 minutes, earnings today will be less than 30% of average.

Another reminder of why you cannot rely on Adsense for an income. Everything was sailing by just great for a month. Even prior to that during the darker months, it was far from fantastic, but it was enough. Now my stats and traffic remain constant, along with EPC, but clicks just plummeted dramatically, and have been like this for about 4 days now. Thursday is another terrible day. Obviously I can't see the ads other people are seeing, but nothing appears to have changed from my end. I can't understand the sudden turnaround, given my traffic is constant. Worrying times.

Over the last few months ad targetting has been dodgy, CTR and CPC have fallen. RPM has got so low that I've been stripping Adsense blocks off pages where they're not earning their keep.
Today I received an optimisation tip from Adsense. What great insight did I get to help me analyse and fix the problems? "Put a 3rd ad unit on your pages".
Thanks for nothing.

Wasn't there a miracle example case of someone increasing earnings 400%? I'm too lazy to look it up.
9:17 am on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
It was obvious Thursday was going to end up crap and especially so with a 0.19% CTR for the UK ! What? That's 15% of average, no data loss there then?
Plus the US was easily at the month's worst at 50% of average. Yeah G, whatever you say.
12:46 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
I'm way way down too, but it's my slower season now, and I'm still way up over 2011. Couldn't live on it, that's for sure. Diversify Diversify Diversify.

Here we go again, completely stuck...yesterday's garbage metrics look awesome compared to today's!
3:14 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
Seem to have a minor improvement, but since around Monday, I have periods of several hours at a time where nothing budges apart from the page views and a dropping CTR. As I know roughly how many clicks I get an hour, I don't understand the drop-off, or the lack of click-dumps that should get the stats back to normal. Something's really messed up.
4:09 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
> Something's really messed up.
Sounds like you're seeing the same kind of insanity that began sweeping through my reports starting a few months ago. I wonder if whatever changes they made are still propagating around the globe and are just now hitting your servers? Hope I'm wrong, because it sucks.
5:07 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
Just hope it's not a long term thing.
Totally stuck again these past 2-3 hours. No clicks. I've never recalled even an hour without clicks before now, except when there's been reporting issues, and then it always caught up with click-dumps. There's a blackhole eating my earnings.

yesterday 16-08: slightly getting better
5:54 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
How's your CPC today? Mine is unusually low. :-|

There's a blackhole eating my earnings.
You're not the only one, these are easily the slowest AdSense updates I have ever seen. I'm still not at 10% of August's average and page views are way out of sync with my logs.
US EPC normal, everything else a disaster and absolutely zero clicks from the UK...the UK outclicked by Iraq, India, Panama and Moldova!
Are there only 3-4 of us seeing this mess?
6:37 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
CPC for the most part is quite reasonable. A little low today, but usually it jumps upwards before the day's done. Clicks down the toilet.
6:40 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
I'm off to the pub. No point watching my AdSense earnings today sober. :-/
7:31 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
I've just checked mine with a can of beer in hand, and they've just revised my earnings downwards by a considerable amount! Just when I thought it couldn't get worse. It's been very rare when I've had a downward revision. I give up! Best go back to the shop and see if I can get a refund on the beer.
7:45 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
> Just when I thought it couldn't get worse.
That's what I thought too. Then came the lowest earnings I've had since the first week of AdSense to tell me otherwise. May your days in the ice box be shorter than mine!
10:34 pm on Aug 17, 2012 (gmt 0)
No movement today. I was reading another thread where one poster seems to hold the Google search engineers in some kind of god-like awe. I don't. And this Adsense performance is seriously screwed up.
12:39 am on Aug 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
I think you misread that post. But whatever.
Average day here, not great, not horrible.
12:21 pm on Aug 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
Yesterday earnings down sharply to 10% of average. Meanwhile, traffic was normal. So much for the upswing from a few days ago. :-(
12:55 pm on Aug 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
Friday ended up as expected, in the pan...The US was below average earnings at 74%, however it's the UK performance which is disturbing at 7.6% and I'm seeing some potentially very good paying ads which either no one is clicking or I'm not getting credited.
1:21 pm on Aug 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
Hey there, Glad I came across this forum. At the very least I do not feel alone. AdSense earnings / CTR this month down 90% while unique visitors and pageviews are normal. Granted August is always an abysmal month but this is ridiculous and I have never seen anything like this.
3:11 pm on Aug 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
Welcome to WebmasterWorld triggeru571
I've just been doing a quick comparison. Until a couple of days ago, the 15th, my daily earnings' average were 125.9% v July, now I'm already down to 120.9% and with today already looking dire I expect that to reduce even further.
I did make some changes for 1st August and I believed that was the reason for my better performance...it looks as though that may have just gone out the window along with some other improvements I had in mind.
3:19 pm on Aug 18, 2012 (gmt 0)
Today's just about hanging in there, but too early to tell. Yesterday made the threshold that I consider my minimum daily earnings, but all in all the second half of August is falling flat on its face, after such a great start. I'm hoping I didn't peak prematurely in July, and that the rest of the year will see improvements.

Hey HuskyPup (love your username - I am assuming you have a Husky?), unfortunately the entire Month of August has been bad for me. The first half of the month I had a GeoTargiting script on my site which dispalys affiliate ads going bananas. It turns out it loaded the header of the site with Google Analytics, but all people could see was my background with now ads. It (shamefully) too me 15 days to realise. Now this issue too. At first I thought they were linked - or that I still have some problems on the site, until I found this forum.
Oddly, last night CTR rose to 1.04% - which is nowhere close to my average 3% but it sure is better than the 0.25% I was getting. Hope the old G sorts itself out soon. Does anyone have a theory as to why we are all seeing such dramatic drops in CTR and revenue?
2:02 am on Aug 19, 2012 (gmt 0)
Yes and none of them are pleasant. It might be that Adsense has integrated that behaviour based advertising to such an extent that it thinks people are on holidays (or weekend break) and therefore it won't serve well targeted ads to sites that have a working week profile. As this is the traditional holiday season in Europe, every day seems like a holiday to them.
