I went to AdSense in your city last month and team G says put more ads on your pages. Usually I put two ads, once in a while three.

As an experiment on one of my higher traffic pages which had two ads, I cut it down to one well placed ad.

Ended up with less clicks however CPC went from low twenty cents to mid sixty cents per click. Results for last three weeks on that page less ads = more revenue, almost 40% more.

Of course each website is different and this may not work for you but its worth testing. Added benefit is the page looks cleaner than one full of advertising.

I've been doing that from the start. What trips up most people is greed. They think more adverts = more money.

My direct ad sales have really picked up, so that means AdSense is probably going down to one per page, even on long pages. If I get a get a better EPC, all to the better (although it's pretty good right now)

However, more adverts do = more opportunities for one of them to catch the attention of (and be of interest to) that particular visitor.

I don't consider all ads to be equal, nor absolute numbers of ads to be the most important factor. If it takes 2-3 ad units to create a sufficient variety that one of the ads might appeal to each visitor, then that's what it takes.

I can't imagine that any visitor is looking for the opportunity to click any random ad that happens to be in front of them.

The relevance of the ad (to the visitor, not to the page) and its quality (some ads are junk) seem like they'd be more important factors than how many there are.

Then place them well.

More adverts means more chances of off-topic adverts.
More adverts means less competition for the slots allowed.
Less adverts means more competition for the slots allowed.

Ad blindness is ad blindness, no matter how many you have.

Do whatever you wish, it's your site.
