Will the downwards spiral continue for some of us? Why do the supposed big earners hardly ever post?

Confused? "These questionsóand many othersówill be answered in this month's episode of...AdSense."

Sat Sun and Today, Monday all have below average revenue from Adsense. Quite 'normal' for my sites, peeps just aren't near computers as much on holiday weekend in US.

Extremely low click volume today so far, CTR at 50% of May average, surprising after a halfway reasonable weekend.

Saturday looked average, yesterday and today, in the dumps.

Yesterday was okay, and today looks promising. Not a good CTR, and poor number of clicks yet again, but very high paying CPC.

CTR on one channel 10 times normal today but clicks average 1 cent each. Currently showing fifty percent more clicks than I usually get on all channels for a full day and it's not yet noon. Something is seriously screwed up.

Speaking of social media and social news sites, I have a love/hate relationship with them: I love the boost in traffic they occasionally bring me but hate the effect such traffic has on Adsense CTR and RPM.

It's no mystery really: people who share my content on FB, Digg, StumbleUpon etc don't visit my pages to click on ads - most barely stay on the page(s) long enough to even notice them. People who find my content via Google Search are actually looking for something and once they hit my page they might click on an ad (if it's relevant).

How does this play out in real world terms? On May 27th one of my posts was posted at Meneame ("the Spanish-language Digg"). Stats showed visits more than doubled, Clicks and CPC were average, CTR and RPM were more than 50% below average. It worked out to an average revenue day but that's frustrating if you're experiencing a boom in traffic. Yesterday was also an average revenue day but with only half the previous day's traffic.

To sum up, SM and SN sites are great for building traffic and building a flow of returning visitors assuming your content is appealing. If it's Adsense $$ you're looking for, it pays to publish as much original content as possible. Both are necessary but revenue-wise they often don't work in conjunction.

My click rate is very high for this time of day too, though only by comparison to the terrible past two months I have had. Going back to April and previous months, today would be a reasonable, but normal day.

StumbleUpon does seem to have brought in quite a bit more traffic today and yesterday, but the bounce rate is appalling.
Like you WordsnCollision, I have found when traffic booms due to social media sites, it rarely results in decent Adsense earnings.

Horrible EPC from both the USA and UK, so far this week running at 50% of average, the worst I've seen in ages.

Best day in three months. Good number of clicks, pretty reasonable page views, good CTR and great EPC.

Certainly my worst weekday not only for the month but for the year plus equalling my lowest EPC of 2012 plus US earnings at 64% and UK earnings at 35% of average made for an atrocious day.

Yesterday looked good and today looks great so far and it's early morning. CTR is low, but eCPM and CPC is quite high. The highest this month.

Exactly, and frankly I don't even look at revenue from Facebook, Twitter or Stumbleupon, but I definitely look at the repeat traffic, social proof and branding opportunities there. I'm in it for the long haul, and just because I don't get an AdSense click out of them the first visit or two doesn't mean I won't eventually. I *love* my small but enthusiastic social media communities; they are my brand evangelists and are constantly bringing new people to the site, and spreading my message for me. And are happy to do it.

Traffic and revenue for May now three times what it was in 2011. Looking forward to a killer June and July.

At the risk of jinxing it, the last few days have looked believable. The numbers are very poor but at least they make sense.

Maybe the CPA test finished on Memorial weekend?

Up we go the sawtooth again!

Wednesday's EPC 170.5% compared to Monday and Tuesday...madness.

US EPC 156%
UK EPC 279%

I think my earnings are now at 0.01-0.05 per click and today they have taken 70% of my earnings, I ex. see 11$ then I update 30min it say 5.75 tree times today, its even worse then normal.

For how long? That's not worth keeping AdSense live.

Anyway, still no CTR change. Dead hamster.

for some time now, but I need a company that accept impressions worldwide, so google is the only option i would say. Sadly I would rather not work with them, be cause I think they cancel to much of my earnings with no real reason.

Dire bottom line today, very low CTR and EPC. But the CTR is close enough to what my logs say and the EPC is expected on the last day of a month. So the numbers are probably right.

This is going to end up having been my worst month for at least two years. Makes me wonder why I bothered spending the last two years writing original content.
