On the Adsense forum there are several discussions going now about "Traffic Quality" with Google Engineer Guillaume at the microphone.
Although the cases discussed are quite sad in terms of loss of revenue, it sheds some light on the new Adsense.

Finally had a click dump with low CPCs...not worth the wait.
1:30 am on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
Very odd behavior. On my biggest earning site I am only at about 30% of my usual CTR but on other sites I am at my usual CTR. I wonder if some of the larger earning clicks are going through extra review before posting (hopefully but doubtful). Either that, or I just had very poorly matching ads showing today.

I just read through those posts on the Google Groups Adsense forum. WOW. Thanks for sharing the links. I hope Google's algorithm is accurate in determining fraudulent clicks. I would imagine that is one of the most difficult and yet most important aspects in keeping the program's value.

Clicks and page views back up to something vaguely normal, but CPC pathetic. Another bad day.
7:00 am on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
Best earnings day since Feb 7 (about 80% of average). Hope this is some kind of turning point as 2012 AdSense so far has been a disaster. Thanks Google!

Anyone else notice that text ads are turning into image ads after a couple of seconds... I'm still using the old ad code... could that have anything to do with my poor results this month...
7:50 am on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
I've gone to text only ads for a while to see if this makes a difference. However the last few days were absolutely dire in terms of earnings.

I'm bleeding here, death can't be far off :(

Back from the Adsense black-out - below average CTR & CPC with still increasing traffic.
Dunno if that's good of bad Quality Traffic

I think some of my advertisers must have woken up from their slumber on Tuesday, impressions, clicks and CTR were my new norm however EPC jumped by 143.5%...no specific country, just an across the board increase.
I wonder if it will stick?

Today is another big impressions day and again, where are the clicks?
7:17 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
I never did get a click dump yesterday and very low clicks here again today. I had one "super click" earlier today but otherwise very little activity. Impressions look normal with pretty typical search terms.
8:21 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
Clicks aren't terrible, but another poor CPC day.
8:32 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
My clicks have been stuck ALL DAY while impressions climb. My CTR is almost zero, and CPC is almost the same.
8:40 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
Right now, things are borked but Google still keeps downloading about 350K pages of content a day on the main site. Real traffic is slow enough and it looks like something is seriously wrong with Adsense.
10:22 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
All day and finally ONE click? WTF is going on? It's a strong day of traffic from G as well.
10:47 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
Good to know others are seeing the same molasses I am. Slow as slow can be today.
11:13 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
The sad thing is that the people in Adsense (and Google) probably think that they are doing a good job.
11:14 pm on Apr 11, 2012 (gmt 0)
Below average day - traffic goes up, CTR is down.
The relevant ads are probably shown on totally off-topic sites - chasing visitors cross-sites based on user interest.
So uhmmmmmm suppose the sites that content-match the better paying ads are fenced off now for specifically these ads ......what would that mean?

Last Thursday was the lowest. Waiting to see what tomorrow brings.
5:59 am on Apr 12, 2012 (gmt 0)
Another bad day. :(

> Another bad day. :(
Yup. Back down in the dumps here too. Crazy.
7:41 am on Apr 12, 2012 (gmt 0)
According to my reports from 6:30am (GMT) until 8am, I didn't get any clicks. I know there are quiet peaks and busy peaks, but I always get some clicks within an hour, so something isn't right here. Whether the estimate will change, or they'll be added onto today, I don't know, but I doubt it.
8:42 am on Apr 12, 2012 (gmt 0)
big clicks, but sadly very few of them. Some of my sites are experiencing average weekly ctr below 0,3 :(
9:03 am on Apr 12, 2012 (gmt 0)
Earnings at 29.5% v 2011 so far this month and 78.8% v March 1-11.
The Captain's left the bridge, the ship's sinking fast...Titanic anyone?

Good CTR benchmarks are rewritten every month....
0.5 - 1 % is now considered as a good CTR?
Still hovering round 1% CTR here
Interesting report on searchengineland
Google CPC is on a downward trend, clicks on the rise....
Clicks must be spreading out on an increasing publisher landscape

3D? You bring the popcorn... I'll bring the noodles...
12:24 pm on Apr 12, 2012 (gmt 0)
Finally have a decent CPC - whether it will last until the end of the day who knows.
Crazy how CTR is considered good between 0-5-1%. I've always been somewhere between 1-2%, which always seemed a little low to me.
