March was one heck of a roller coaster ride for me and many others, let's hope they've ironed out whatever it is they've been attempting to do!

Finally have a decent CPC - whether it will last until the end of the day who knows.

Crazy how CTR is considered good between 0-5-1%. I've always been somewhere between 1-2%, which always seemed a little low to me.

Traffic increasing - Worst AdSense figures since the beginning - Ads not relevant.

Watched figures decreasing since November to point of being useless and wasting space.

Would it be better to replace adsense with something better for customer experience? What would that be.

Is Adsense a lost cause except for scraper sites that I have seen increase in rankings since Pandalized.

Wow. All-time lows here, including when my server has been hosed for large portions of the day, etc.

Revenue change compared to the previous month:

Jan 2012 minus 19%
Feb 2012 minus 25%
Mar 2012 minus 26%
Apr 2012 minus 39% (estimated)

I am now running at levels I haven't seen for a very long time.

2011 was great, culminating in December 2011 being my best ever month. What on earth happened at the start of this year? My Amazon affiliate earnings are beating AdSense this month, and on days when I manage to sell a stock photo the earnings from that also beat AdSense. I never thought that these things would happen.

I had some problems with Google keep invalidating clicks (presumably because they were clicks that didn't perform) so I saw clicks but then they took away the earnings away.

My CTR has now gone to almost nothing. Perhaps they have changed the algorithm to take away the clicks as well as the earnings when they invalidate 'non-performing' clicks?

It's fortunate that I have never taken AdSense seriously enough to rely on the income.

Well my nice morning spree, went belly up. CPC crashing down, and clicks this evening virtually non-existent.

Earnings have already exceeded all of yesterday (which doesn't say much since it was barely 20% of average). With eleven hours left to go, hopefully the current uptick continues.

My Adsense earnings seem to work in two day cycles, where today seems to be the day that made up for yesterdays lower earnings. I imagine tomorrow will be slow.

It all evens out in the end.

Click count and earnings unchanged since posting above that I had eleven hours left to go. These very long intervals between updates have become the AdSense reporting norm.

12:30am, still unchanged. Given the level of traffic yesterday, there's just no way these numbers make sense. I've argued in the past that if AdSense really can't deliver daily reports anymore, they should just not offer them. Shift to weekly or monthly and save us all a lot of grief.

Ended the previous day with big clicks and a load of breadcrum clicks - resulting in a reasonable revenue, given the continuing bad weather.

The thought the clicked ads could be totally off-topic - in no relation to the page content is strange.

It brings about ideas of profiling the visitor to a kind of META-type. From a pure business person to anti-everything tree-hugger.

Could visitor profiling help in creating new pages?

Does anyone here use Adwords to drive traffic to their site? I've noticed over the years a correlation between the use of Adwords and the impact that has on Adsense revenue. I've been increasing my Adwords spending lately ($100+ per day) to help boost traffic, but the results in the last few weeks haven't been all that great. I'm aware of the dangers of "arbitrage," however, my site has so much content, I'm not too concerned. In fact, I've spoken with people from Adwords about this, and they say I should be okay. So, I mainly just want to know if anyone else here is using Adwords to increase traffic (and perhaps ranking) with the hope of increasing ad revenue.

Slow start of the day - few big clicks then silence.

And then this news,...

"Google’s partner sites generated revenues of $2.91 billion, or 27% of total revenues, in the first quarter of 2012. This represents a 20% increase from first quarter 2011 network revenues of $2.43 billion"

Excellent Google, would you like to know my AdSense metrics for the first quarter v 2011?

Click volume 46.5%
CTR 61.7%
EPC The same
Earnings 46.5%

Yep Click Volume and Earnings are the same %, I would have liked a 20% increase just like you G, thanks...you're sinking fast and have lost all credibility in my eyes.

From the earnings announcement:

Cost-Per-Click – Average cost-per-click, which includes clicks related to ads served on Google sites and the sites of our Network members, decreased approximately 12% over the first quarter of 2011 and decreased approximately 6% over the fourth quarter of 2011.

Google Sites Revenues - Google-owned sites generated revenues of $7.31 billion, or 69% of total revenues, in the first quarter of 2012. This represents a 24% increase over first quarter 2011 revenues of $5.88 billion.

So if they're getting 69% of their revenue from their own sites it kind of tells you where you fall in the scheme of things as a Publisher.

Only skim read it, but those with hosting in the UK, might want to cover themselves with a bit on their site about cookies/privacy if they haven't already done so. I don't believe I'm allowed to post links, but there's an article in the Guardian today about a new law they may pass - those who do not comply could be hit with up to a half million pound fine.

Another awful day. I've had about 10 cracking months, and April has just gone to pieces.

No, no, NO! That was only the 11th Tuesday of the year!

However wearing some augmented reality glasses it might have seemed like the 13th.
