AdChoices replacing Google text?

 4:05 am on Jun 4, 2011 (gmt 0)

I'm so used to seeing the ads by Google text on adsense units that I got a startle when I saw it replaced with "AdChoices" a moment ago.

Have I missed an announcement on why my units all say AdChoices with an arrow? Have I been hacked? Is there something different about AdChoices units?

edit: nevermind, apparently I missed the March announcement - [adsense.blogspot.com...]

I have to say that I don't entirely love having THREE arrows in such close proximity on some ad units, two to see more ads and one to see a page about adchoices. On 160x600 units for example the adchoices arrow points to the navigational arrows and draws a bit much attention. On 326x280 units it points away from the unit, someone will be adding a button or link right beside that arrow to take advantage I'm sure.

Have I been hacked?

That was also the first thing that entered my mind when Ive seen these changes today.

Change from Ads by Google to Ad Choices ....

... Googles attempt to hide the fact that they are AdSense ads?

From Google:

The change is to comply with the online advertising industry's Self-Regulatory Program for Online Behavioral Advertising. It will allow Google "to more proactively give users notice and choice about the ads they see." Google explained:

Am I the only one or do you think that the actual text and graphic of "AdChoices" looks bad/pixelated?

I mean the actuall text/graphic not the choice of words

I'm seeing issues in how the 468x60 ads display in IE9. In some cases, the exact same ad block looks chopped off - and it's got the same css, same ad settings. But it's like it's not quite tall enough and is chopping off part of the display URL. *only* seeing it in IE.

noticed that in a medium rectangle too with Firefox 4

Pretty sure it's not my CSS; for me it works okay in FF4 (the 468x60; not using rectangles at the moment) and I gave it like a 20px padding and 20px margin as a test, still had the same problem.

I first noticed about a month ago. They showed on my site for only a day or so. I posted about it here.

Yahoo! is using the same AdChoices icon on their Yahoo! Mail login page.

Seriously, that's the best looking logo these corporate giants could come up with? It looks terrible. I feel it acts as a click repellent on my ads.

just curious. Adbrite now also have adchoice logo and so is luminate. Do they now display adsense ads? At luminate I think yes. I don't see it for adbrite which shows empty ads neverthless on indonesia.
