Down the toilet yesterday (less than a percent CTR!) Today isn't looking any better. Anyone else in the doldrums?
10:16 am on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Re-installed AdSense and earnings still at 50% with EPC well down and my largest site pandalised by 2.1 for whatever ill-thought out and totally illogical algortithmic reason.
Some sites are still getting good EPCs yet most are in the USD 0.15-0.25 range whereas it used to be USD 0.35-0.50 area.
Do you know what, I'm absolutely fed-up of playing this moronic game with people who have no comprehension of the real world...the sooner we all spit our dummies out and throw them straight at Google, the better.
Hey, you never know they may decide to talk to us...ROFL, ROFL, ROFL!
1:19 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Wow...5 hours 8 clicks and USD 1.84...many, many sites with no clicks whatsoever...fubard, yep, totally fubard.
1:30 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Yesterday was garbage, and today traffic is up...again, and CTR is rock bottom...stuck perhaps?
I also checked my "targeted ads" and I'm getting some Russian sites, yet don't get Russian traffic? So I blocked them.

Yesterday earnings closed 20% above average. It was the second highest day this month. Here's to hoping today will be as good or better!
2:24 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Impressions keep climbing but CTR is stuck. Anyone else?
2:51 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
The impressions count posting long before clicks seems to be the new pattern these days.
4:43 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
May has been a good month for me. We had a massive dip in February but this month ecpm is up 150% and almost back to it's former glory of last year.
It never ceases to amaze me, just how much adsense earnings can change from one period to the next. Traffic is stable but earnings can swing massively.
4:58 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Reporting was normal for me yesterday, but has got stuck several times today, though fortunately jumped upwards later in the day. Looks to be another consistent day.
For those who have wild fluctuations, where does the bulk of your traffic come from?
5:53 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
"i've read a lot of your posts recently automotive, and i reckon you're going about it a bit wrong. i know that your impressions and earnings are down, but is your traffic down too?"
That's not the case. My traffic is higher than ever and gradually increases with time. However, earnings have plummeted by nearly half this month hence I have been really trying hard to integrate other ads so I don't become too reliant upon adsense for bulk of my earnings. I put CPM ads on yesterday and the results were horrendous. Does anyone know if it takes a few days before proper ads start showing with CPM networks. By the way, the network I used was Contextweb.
6:49 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Stats seem stuck now.
7:06 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Stats suck now is more like it.
Page impressions at 40% of old average
Clicks at 20%
Both CTR and eCPM at 50+%
Earnings not even reach Xmas Day levels
Panda 2.1 has massacred my sites and quite a few other good quality ones in my niche
Real world B & M business booming :-)
I think it's time to call it a day and let those so-called experts at The Plex go play with themselves until they turn blind.
11:55 pm on May 12, 2011 (gmt 0)
Earnings at 50% of average. 7 hours to go.
12:18 am on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
WooHoo...Just gone past Xmas Day's earnings of 2010
CTR 25% of that day and eCPM 30%
At what level does one remove AdSense and walk away with an extremely foul taste in the mouth? I find it so hard to believe that only a week ago, for me, things were relatively stable, now AdSense has collapsed in a heap for some, with an as yet unexplained reason, with Panda 2.1.
Did I hear someone say G's lost control of its own algo?
12:22 am on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
It reassures me to see I'm not the only one. I briefly climbed to about 90% of my April average but for the last week I have been at 50%. I don't understand it atall since my position in the SEs seems to have stayed about the same but traffic overall is down 50% and earnings is probably less than that.
All original content, Adsense only sites. My entire site building and promotion strategy conforms with Google best practice...
Then I do a google search for google.com (I'm in the UK) and I find:
www.dominargoogle.com in the top 5 spots! And the site is in Spanish!
And earlier today I did a search for Paypal.com, to login, and Paypal.com was halfway down the results!
Eye -> ball
ball Google eye -> !
Why was this called the Panda update - is it because it's an aberration of nature which really shouldn't be kept alive?

I got a notification that they are doing maintenance Saturday. It looks like they'll be at it most of the day. Wonder if they're going to fix what they did wrong the past three months.......
7:04 am on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
Well, so much for that. Earnings never got much better yesterday. Closed down at 50% of average. :-(
8:26 am on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
Down 20% today, my consistency streak has come to and end.
9:00 am on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
It's just horrible, horrible, horrible.
On my non-pandalised sites AdLinks' earnings yesterday were down to 25% of average and overall earnings down to 33%.
I never, ever believed that a CTR and eCPM could be this low.
On my panadalised site Page Impressions were 68%, clicks 50% and earnings 46%.
To those who are still doing well just bear in mind this could happen to you one day, I've done nothing wrong, I've been in the programme since the beginning and this is easily the lowest point ever since any further it will be ZERO and I do not know why.
It is simply a total collapse of the programme for me.

You have my sympathies HuskyPup - I read people's experiences here, and consider myself lucky. I know full well Google Adsense can turn sour at any time, so I try to just enjoy it whilst I've got it.
Normally I'm not reliant on Adsense at all for my living, but I'm moving house, and have two babies - I've stopped working for 6 weeks, so am living off Adsense for this period of time.
11:00 am on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
This morning I added Kontera to my main site to try and compensate for the adsense drop. Lets see how that goes for a few days. I do dread seeing the pages become overly linked and whether it will put the readers off.
11:47 am on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
I've got to say camaraderie between members here during this tragic transition has been most inspiring. It really makes me wonder how Google can fail to look upon normal good people who are genuinely being hurt by their business practices, and not try to help. Especially when most of us are willing to change if given an opportunity to do so.
3:36 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
Another slow start today.
4:48 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
I'm seriously considering replacing all my Google ads with Microsoft ads. That couldn't be any worse than what I'm experiencing now. I'll wait until after the maintenance work tomorrow, then make a decision Monday or Tuesday.

Google is a huge corporation and their responsibilities are to their shareholders, period.

I have discovered the root of my issues. The site I am working on has a bad bug in the url display. I just discovered this because it is a site I really have not worked much on, but since we sold a large chunk of our sites a couple months ago I began working this site. It was hit with panda as well but I expected this due to the way the site displayed duplicate content. Upon futher looking I discovered this error were only the page Title, description, h1, and adsense dispay. This is the issue and why the big dip in our earnings.
Error is a state page times unlimited number of pages 1 to a million times 50. I can't find but about 300 pages in the index like this, but that is more than enough to trigger the issue.
I am rebuilding the site from the ground up, setting up a 301 for all duplicate content, 301 the urls that can display h1 and adsnese to the correct state page, rewritting all content, and adding fresh content to compliment the business we have on the site. Only 1 url will be displayed per page.
Those having issues maybe it is some type of issue I just discovered and not Google. I took the time to investigate if it was a programming error causing the problem and sure enough it was.
6:05 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
Three hours later, earnings unchanged.
6:50 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
Once again I am seeing ad channels in my reports that have not been on a site in as many as 3 months. How long can a page stay in a cache? And for the last 2 days I've seen a lot of this. We're not talking about one or two channels. More like dozens with just a few impressions each.
6:53 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
it's interesting that you say that, because i have been seeing (for weeks now) lots of 404s for pages that havent existed on my site for 12 months. they are showing up in google webamster tools.
if you are getting hits for lots of old channels too, maybe google has a load of old pages in the index?
7:19 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
That's what I've been thinking. But my pages are still there so no 404s. I am seeing the ghosts of ad units I removed while doing a redesign.
8:09 pm on May 13, 2011 (gmt 0)
Atomic hmm are you sure all the ads your seeing an impression are really gone. It has been my experience they are orphan pages that still have the old ad on you removed from a redesign and sometimes get a hit from an off the wall search.
