Adsense earnings analysis -

Hello Everyone: I ported the thread located here: [webmasterworld.com...]
as we were off topic in a few areas.

I'm highly interested in continuing the discussion about what other Publishers are seeing in 2011 with regard to their adsense earnings over years prior.

As I indicated, I noticed a substantial drop in earnings during the first few days of January 2011, after a record breaking December 2010.

Anyone noticing this trend is encouraged to share their feedback.

How often do you reset your channels?

what do you do with the existing channels? Do you de-activate them or just remove them?
=============================================

I just change the AdSense code to one that has NO channel. Everything else just stays the same at Google, I don't turn anything off or delete anything as far as they are concerned. I just run an AdSense block for 24 hrs. that has no channel hooked to it. For whatever reason that seems to reset their system so that when I put back the regular AdSense block of code it runs better paying ads.

Hmmm...I haven't tried the no channel option, but I do recall in the past taking the code off completely and letting the site run for a few hours or so with no Adsense. When the Adsense was put back on, it improved things. Probably worth trying again.

@ladyk

Did you try no channel for all ad units, or for some at your site?

@ladyk: so let me resume what you did: you created one or two new ads codes which were not linked to any channel. You put them in the place of your old adsense codes which were linked to channels. You let them run for 24h and right after that you put the old adsense codes back in place, right?

Might I ask you if that stopped the low cpc? Did your cpc come back to normal?

Anyone want to add anything about this interesting theory?

Stats are moving up faster now after I created and posted fresh ads with new channels. I'm not putting too much into it. I know these tricks are short term. I tried similar before. Yeah, CTR and EPC is up at the moment.

CTR today has jumped 25% and we're seeing new ads all over the site. Very odd, but it is making up for the dismal EPC.

Earnings today are the highest for this month and there's eight hours still to go. Yay! Thanks Google! :-)

How can "no channels" work? I am still using the old ad codes.. with "no channels" and all I know is the my earning since October 2010 have decreased by 25%... and nothing I do is working to improve the situation... there is more to this then google is willing to disclose...

No alerts found. You can go play outside!

How can we go play outside, when our earnings get lower and lower?!

A little jump in earnings with new ads with new channels, but nothing spectacular. I've been doing pre-November levels for a few days now (- 42%).

According to Advertising Millennial Media Google Android has got a lot of ads impressions...even more than Apple OS. This positive trend has started in September 2010 and has increased even more lately.
Google Android has got 55% of the total ads budget.
Maybe what we are experiencing is nothing else than a big shift of the ads budget. Publishers are now advertising on Google Andraoid thanks to the new Google Adsense program for Android...
Just a thought

@eniac : Yes I replaced all Adsense codes on my site with a no-channel code.

@frank72: When my ecpm is at a level where I want to cry, I do the no-channel suggestion and after a little while, maybe one or two hours my ecpm rises. I leave the code on until the next day and put my old unit with the channel back on.

This does seem to help and work for me, however maybe this is just a coincidence I don't know. Last reset was 2 days ago, my ecpm and epc is ok so far, still no time to celebrate but I'm not at a point where I want to have a drink or cry.

@ladyk: thanks for your explanation. No time to cry yet. we have just to keep working as usual and see what will happen in the next couple of months. I see a lot of important blogs (such as engadget for example) which do not use adsense. Maybe if after two months we dont see any improvment we should look for other incomes

Actual clicks +24% and CTR normal on Sunday however my EPC was back in the crapper again at -38% compared to Saturday and -26% for the month...these swings are freakin' ridiculous...Stupid Pricing TM has gotten everyone by the short and curlies including the Plex.

The Big G doesn't have to change the 68% revenue share for us to get less. It's the numbers that go into the 68% to begin with that could be adjusted for whatever reason. I doubt that the money goes from one Adwords account with one 68% calculation and directly into a Adsense account. I'm sure there are many ways and reasons why things can be adjusted or tweaked ahead of time or somewhere in the flow.

If we could at least get rid off cheap ads, it would be nice.
There is no option to switch the desired cpc or eCPM rate, for example:
show me ads if cpc >= 10 cent or eCPM >= 1$.
Some ad networks like Adbrite offer that but Adsense doesn't.

And they never will, because then they're stuck with a lot of ad inventory that nobody wants to display. And that makes the advertisers unhappy.

Oh good grief, how the heck can it possibly get any worse with EPC? I know the answer is zero but I seem to have a huge ad inventory if my < and > arrows are correct so what is actually going on?

I assume all those ads that show up when you click the little arrow are the lesser paying ads? The ones that appear without clicking are the top paying ones? I always forget there are more ads under the arrows. There seems to be a lot of inventory.

@HuskyPup: i dont know what the answer is but I feel your pain as it is mine too. I only wish we could get some word from Google. Some insight, some explanation, some news, some pat on the back...anything.
What kind of company leave its advertisers in the dark like this?
With such low cpc I dont even feel like writing...but I have to...

@ladyk: i tried the trick and the cpm increased. Sadily the cpc stayed as low as usual...

I would only know how big is this issue. How many people are experiencing this? We will never know!

My earnings yesterday were about 50% above average, very nice considering how poor things have been for weeks on end. Today isn't looking nearly as good, here's to hoping that'll change.

Yesterday was just ok, way below December's daily average.

1:05 pm. CTR and EPC are super great today. Don't know what to blame it on? The new ads, MLK Day or just plain luck. Not everybody rests today..

This month is horrible. Sunday was ok for that particular day but today is way off again. Ive tried everything from adding more link units to blocking catagories and image ads in the last few weeks, but nothing seems to help much. Last month looks like its going to be better than this month. The only thing that is normal is my traffic. I would like to get back to writing, but this falling of revenue is really getting annoying. Something is very very wrong here. It seems to get worse every week.

One more thing, My ads look good now with some of the changes we did, but what about ads being served in other countries. 50% of our traffic come out of the U.S. Could this be part of the problem we our all having with revenue? As far as we know there could be public service ads being shown to those people.

Hello,
Some or many people are suffering from Adsense earnings in these days.

I just want to know who they are. I want to know how many are there?

G does not communicate with us. G does not say anything officially to the publishers.

Maybe it is time to take an action to that problem. maybe it is time to make G to hear our voice. maybe it is time to make G to establish some way of communication with its publishers.

What can we do for that?
any suggestion?
