AdSense Reporting Lag November 2010

 6:54 pm on Nov 2, 2010 (gmt 0)

does anybody see their adsense earnings appear to be reporting slow today? the impressions are pretty much where they should be for this time of day, but the earnings seem too low. anybody else seeing this?

 2:33 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

Not extremely low, extremely not there, never seen that before this time of day (cough) helloOOoo GooOOogle ? Maybe they really are using hamsters.

 3:05 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

Special this morning, last update 25 clicks for 1$

 3:16 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

Glad I'm not alone! We are about half of where we normally are at this time.

 3:58 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

I wish I were halfway there, not even 15%, I assume the whole lot's going to fall over from tomorrow!

 4:35 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

Earnings are way off the chart. Who broke the machine?

 4:37 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

Who broke the machine?

Looking at my stats I reckon those hamsters were out with me all weekend and have not recovered yet!

 5:04 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

A webmaster's worst nightmare...

I wouldn't expect things to get much better before Sunday/Monday

 7:26 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

Monday sucked big time, today doesn't look better. Low eCPM and slightly lower traffic.

 7:47 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

I am thinking the Turkey is having something to do with this.. Happy Thanksgiving !

 9:05 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

Anybody having low numbers using a lot of 728x90 ad units?

I noticed G is showing more ads per unit in the 728x90 slots now, causing the font to be smaller and less readable.

Might be related to the low numbers?

Anybody having low numbers using a lot of 728x90 ad units?

I am. Clear your cookies, cache and you probably won't see the ads in that format again.

 10:18 pm on Nov 23, 2010 (gmt 0)

I'm not worried about seeing them myself. I'm worried about the million other visitors. :-)

 1:40 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

:) Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. I seriously doubt that's why the numbers are low today. Google has been screwing up with that for awhile now. I've seen it on/off during for the last 2 months. We are the lab rats now.. wait.. we've always been..

 2:49 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Very low, almost abnormal today. I have a lot of 728x90 units.

 3:09 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Just compared in Analytics this time last year - practically matches but with a 5% increase. I reckon it's mostly seasonal and probably this thanks giving thing that others mentioned. Odd though because most of my traffic is from Ole Blighty.

 4:34 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

It is strange indeed, my traffic from the UK dropped a week ago and continues the same way (positions stable) The earnings bottomed today with the same overall traffic for the past 3-4 days

 4:41 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

maybe these times are very best for doing testing at google ( thanksgiving or similar dates )

 8:18 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

It looks like something is broken:

1. When I look to my site via IPhone/IPad there are no adsense ads to see
2. Analytics says that starting with 11/14/2010 the adsense pageimpression per visit is sharply go down to 50% then before.

What's going on?

 9:13 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

My earnings have been down for about a week now, not sure what the problem is.

 9:15 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

My traffic has been increasing over the past week, but my earnings (and CTR) have plummetted. Is very odd.

Most people seem to be in the same position though so it's probably just a case of waiting it out.

 10:05 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

God Dammit!
Tuesday was really bad/low!

It's again, like a roller coaster...

I think that we will see more disturbing figures as the "Thanksgiving Day effect" is here...

 10:43 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

I've checked my last few years' AdSense stats and apart from the actual Thanksgiving Day I've done pretty well however yesterday was simply appalling especially with EPC values and specific channel clicks.

Overall my earnings were 26% down on the daily average and closer to 35% for a weekday average. My second biggest url channel clicks were 40% down therefore its lowest click day in months...on a Tuesday!

The hamsters threw the switch, left the building by a side entrance and are are already on extended holiday.

 11:17 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Traffic and impressions up; CTR and eCPM down on Tuesday, 23rd

 11:52 am on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

HuskyPup -- do you use the 728x90 ad unit around you site? We have seen that particular size ad slot drop. But our other ad sizes have held steady.

Again, my theory is G is now squeezing 4 ads I to these 728x90 ad slots (not 100% of the time, but quite often), causing a much smaller text to be used. Not as readable = Not as clickable.

 2:17 pm on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

do you use the 728x90 ad unit around you site?

It's my prime AdUnit, all my sites have this at the top, all my Coppermine galleries also have one at the bottom.

99% the only other thing I use is a 336 x 280 at the end of each article page along with a 160 x 90 AdLink on some sites and a 728 x 15 AdLink on others.

I've seen the 4 ads on the leaderboards and I have to agree they look too cramped but then again the other day someone targetted me taking the entire leaderboard for themselves and decided to pay me about USD 1.50 per click.

I have noticed recently that AdLink click values seem to have dropped considerably whereas they used to be within 80% or so of average.

 2:24 pm on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Hey Guys,

I too am experiencing an enormous drop in my ECPM....

I pulled around 15k impressions yesterday with an ecpm of nearly half of what it normally is

After talking to a few friends online who also pull in similar numbers I've found this to just be a common trend.. here are my thoughts

I believe advertisers are dropping bids/pausing campaigns due to Thanksgiving... many people traveling and not at work browsing the web

i believe advertisers are waiting to increase their campaigns for black friday/cyber monday

it sucks because i was tracking really good for the month and this is gonna put a nice dent in it - i'm thinking we aren't going to see anything back to normal until friday (maybe....) or even monday

just my thoughts

 2:55 pm on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Something is wrong here.

Yesterday was a very poor day, but worse is the fact that Google Adsense is showing 20% less pageviews than we actually had.

I know we cannot track how many visitors click ads, but we sure know how many visitors land on our sites and how many pageviews we get.

 3:01 pm on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Do you have an Adsense rep you can ask about it? Mine no longer works at G so I'm trying to find a another way to contact them.

 3:11 pm on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Do you have an Adsense rep you can ask about it?

Unfortunately not, never have had, I have no idea if that's because I'm in the UK maybe?

 4:17 pm on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Wondering if the hamsters have deserted their wheels for the US Thanksgiving holiday. Not sure if the stats are borked/lagged or otherwise banjaxed today.

 5:06 pm on Nov 24, 2010 (gmt 0)

Easily the worst EPC I've had since last year, the hamsters went home last weekend and couldn't care a fig, long live the turkey:-)

I've now written off the next few days as DeAdSense!
