I've got a couple of those ad sizes and I'm not seeing the changes yet.
I'll bet these new formats won't look right on many sites unaware of this change.
Guess I'll wait and see as it rolls out.

...During testing, the redesigned ads performed extremely well.
I wonder if they took into account the "ad blindness" of the old format... Maybe this new format will only perform better until people get used to them.

These are changes that have been talked about here for awhile now while they were seen in tests I guess.
Aside from the change to the 728 x 90, I wonder how many wiull even notice the difference?

Will a click on the Ad url pay?
If it doesn't, then the CTR and earnings are surely going down as some visitors may well click the URL instead of the Title.
PS. I remember I saw this layout sometime before and I remember the status bar showing the click tracking url when we hover over the Ad url which means that a click on URL pays. If this is the case, then its good.

I haven't seen 'em on any of mine yet.

Neither have I. I guess I thought the email signaled a widespread roll out. Maybe not.

Me neither, but the roll out should take a couple of weeks. I am, though, more curious about the few minor adjustments to the font size.

Very curious to see how they perform. The 728x90 is a drastic change. I like the concept.
Just have to wait and see how it does I guess.

Actually, I like the new format too. But I hope the performance is as good or better than the original.

i've seen them on my leaderboards when doing some cross browser testing with my website a few days ago. interestingly enough, they only showed up in chrome, so google definitely has some browser-dependent gimmicks going on. in my view, the ads look really nice, clean and tidy.
During testing, the redesigned ads performed extremely well.
really makes you wonder, why goog comes out with something new only seven years after the original layout. extremely slow innovation process due to monopolism, if you ask me.

I despise the leaderboard change and I can't imagine it will attract as many clicks, but I guess I'll have to watch and see.

We should wait for next few weeks to enjoy this new ad layout

Maybe they'll give us an option to run either style.
What I like about it is that it better matches the flow of text on my web pages.

The new formats just showed up on my site today and my CTR went straight to hell, 50% of normal!
Good job Google!

Still not seeing it here.

IncrediBILL is scaring me.... can we just not go back to the days when we put unrelated pictures next to the ads and all go out and get drunk rather than doing the Scooby Doo ghost shiver because Google has gone mad again.... It's like being best friends with a suicidal murderer. They're slitting their wrists right after they shave your jugular vein.

I've seen the new Leaderboard and Square 336 wide ads on one of my sites. I like what I see.
2:45 am on Aug 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
I didn't say I didn't like them, I just didn't like the sudden 50% CTR drop.
I'll give it a couple of days (Monday) before I switch formats if this continues.

New layout is showing on my site now.
3:07 am on Aug 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
I've been seeing the leaderboard on a major site I watch (not mine) for several weeks at least. I guess it was in beta with them, and I didn't think the ads looked as juicy. I used to be impressed by how tempted I was to click on the ads, but the new format was easily resistable.
Now the leaderboard is on one of my sites. And, um, well, it's not as tasty. But maybe that's the goal - it has even less of an appearance of "being" the site, and is way more obviously (and lopsidishly) advertisement. Which could do good things for the eCPM, if I got any traffic on that site, but I don't, it's too new, so I may never know the difference.
3:47 am on Aug 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
I just saw it on my sites today for the first time (leaderboard). It looks aweful because the font is big, so the font is way too big for the space and stuff is being "cut off". You can read the clickable title, but can't read the next line at all. Not sure if it's my browser setting, AdSense font size setting, or what.
So far it looks bad. Google, give me the choice. It's too early to say whether I'm making more or less $ though.

Found my problem - along with the new ad format comes some serious targeting problems on my pages.
Full page of ads about seafood and the page has ZERO about seafood on it.
Hello, AdSense support? there's an email heading your way... :)
6:08 am on Aug 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
Even then CTR is bound to decrease, at least slightly.
I'm especially talking about the rectangle ads where users will sometimes click on the URL instead of the title since they are side by side.
9:02 am on Aug 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
Clicks on urls do not pay? Is this official?
9:06 am on Aug 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
Just saw this show up on my site and it's clear Google is greedy...I see 4 rows of ads squeezed into that space - so much clutter. Obviously, I do think CTR will improve, but come on, since when did Google start loving the MFA-style layouts..
12:08 pm on Aug 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
I love it!
The new Leaderboard layout is so far generating around 40% more clicks with at least as good EPC as before for me.
The new layout looks OK in my site, but I do understand that not all advertisers are happy with it. Maybe an idea to let advertisers choose which layout they want for their sites?
Also, I do expect CTR to slowly decrease from the sudden +40% increase as my visitors get "used to" (or blind) to the new layout. A large portion of my audience re-visits my site a lot, so this sudden change made lots of them curious enough to start clicking, I guess.

I just talked with IBA (Interest Based Ads). He (IBA) is very happy today, even though it's Friday the 13th. Now that something new is on the scene to be blamed for lower CTR's, IBA won't have to take so much blame and abuse.
IBA sends his condolences to NAF (New Ad Format)
