We are seeing massive dips here as well. I just can't believe how peoples' silly obsession with sport can stop the world from turning.

Don't you mean spiraling plunge into the pit of despair?
12:28 am on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
lol, glad to know we are not alone!

Good to know that one of the biggest sporting events on earth deters people from surfing online and clicking on adverts ;o)
I do find that I'm staring at a betting screen half the time games are played though...
3:05 am on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
lol, I am surprised the traffic went down by 20-30%.
I am glad it's over.
3:14 am on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
Traffic down, income up.
Not sure how I feel about that.
6:20 am on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
All down (traffic and revenue), execrable Sunday, worse than 4th of July...
7:10 am on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
And savoury biscuits [crackers] for the dips, along with cabanossi, cocktail frankfurts, peanuts, pop corn and other nibblies, all washed down with beer and wine.

Me too...PIs up 12.5% from 4th July Sunday but down about 15% of a regular Sunday with CTR up by 25% making a good day.
50% of these earnings came after the football had finished but how real time they are we just do not know.
12:42 pm on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
I don't care what it did to my AdSense; I'm just glad I can have my interwebs back again. Them soccer people was clogging up my tubez.
Oh, and now we can move on to real football.
1:16 pm on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
It is sometimes great to have a sports related website. Do you want to know where your traffic has gone? Biggest day of the year for me!
3:47 pm on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
Ugly numbers here too. Let's see how it goes this week
BTW I live in latinamerica, I even saw streets with 20% of their normal traffic during the great final.
5:32 pm on Jul 12, 2010 (gmt 0)
July earnings have been pretty lousy overall. Today looks like more of the same. :-(
12:28 am on Jul 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
Ah.. football. Wondered what all the silly flags were about. Is it done yet?
3:12 am on Jul 13, 2010 (gmt 0)
Yep. The World Cup is over, and for me, the website traffic has picked up slightly.
CPM is down, but overall they are better than the past 2 days.

Monday was OK, but today seems slow.

The world's largest sporting event, what did you expect?
Just feel sorry for those in Spain, their dip is ongong!
8:48 am on Jul 14, 2010 (gmt 0)
I'm certainly feeling the pain. But that's because I'm Dutch :D

You mean the activity that barely involves the feet? American Rugby, innit? ;)
9:50 am on Jul 14, 2010 (gmt 0)
Isn't that a contradiction in terms?
Yes, there are many minority groups in the USA playing Rugby, Rugby League, Soccer, Cricket etc.
Until they reach international status, they never hit American radar in the media.
Many years back, the Australian premier Rugby League team played USA.
I swear OZ had been "slipped a bait", because of overdone USA hospitality from the night before.
Only in the second half of the game did OZ get the upper hand.
This is USA vs Australia in Rugby League.
What was the question? Oh! American Rugby, a totally different animal.
1:00 pm on Jul 14, 2010 (gmt 0)
How is 'American Football' not contradictory? Granted, you nearly won the confederations cup in South-Africa. I still wonder how you messed that one up...
Just find yourself a new name for that sport involving tank-armored guys carrying an egg-shaped ball in between massive bouts of television ads. Football is football is played with the feet and the feet alone. 'American rugby' was merely a suggestion. Hell, call it 'soccer' if you want to, just don't call it football, for that name is reserved ;)
2:42 pm on Jul 14, 2010 (gmt 0)
Sunday was kinda ok, yesterday NOT ok, today = slow
3:27 pm on Jul 14, 2010 (gmt 0)
More like at a complete standstill at the moment!
I actually had a problem logging into AdSense therefore must assume they're busy losing my data:-(
5:40 pm on Jul 14, 2010 (gmt 0)
Well, I have not made a penny today and it's almost 11 am. very weird. So Husky, something must be up!
6:30 pm on Jul 14, 2010 (gmt 0)
Days after the World Cup -- Monday and Tuesday -- were spectacular. The best of July so far. Wednesday is looking good as well.
Just as it has been since Adsense started, when some folks complain, some folks rejoice.
Don't immediately assume that "something is up." If something is indeed up, I LOVE it because I am benefiting from it.

Did anybody affected today by the lack of clicks get a rush of them in the last half hour? It is 1:44 pm Pacific Time here. Seems the blowout preventer went bust in the last half hour on my account! The whole morning Adsense was stuck on stupid and didn't get a click for the first time ever.
