Love it.

Google doesn't do evil. It doesn't test anything either

Or maybe they do too many tests. They could "fix" it by calling it Adsense Beta :)

Ffsake! What is going on in Adsense? Moronic targeting, delayed stats, off-topic adverts.

Moronic targeting

Definitively a problem with targeting. Pricing, truck, tires and tools ads on the Bible.

In the AdWords forum, AWA mentioned there was an issue this morning with AdWords clicks not being reported (which means AdSense too, obviously) but that they believe it was resolved.

eCPM is at 2004 levels here. Targeting is borked. Space in the competitive adfilter is running out.

I wouldn't touch the filter as long as targeting is off - there might be thousands of unrelated sites suddenly matching your content and you're filling your filter to no avail.

Hmm.. Just received another clickdump. Stats are below average now, but it's nothing to be shocked about.

Apparently there was a bug with targeting on Adsense for Content but it is now fixed:
[adsense.blogspot.com...]

There's not a whole lot I can say that wasn't covered in the blog post, but I'm here to answer questions about what happened last week if you have them. I can tell you that that issue was definitely resolved on Thursday.

Our CTR is about 50% of what it typically is (based on a 2 year average). We've have never seen it go this low before... Very strange. They must be testing something.

I do see that they are randomly changing my Adsense fonts as I browse around my site. A bit of annoyance since they are doing it without my permission... but I guess since I am on the "Adsense default" font, they can change their "default" whenever they like.

Therefore this implies that we all have incredibly vivid imaginations as to what is actually happening with our metrics?

Nothing's wrong then?

Yeah, right, no buggy code anywhere in the G-System?

I wonder how many Adsense users who are not members of this forum (and that would be the vast majority) saw these earnings as "why make the effort?" and cancelled their accounts? A more proactive stance of informing folks as soon as possible when something goes south might go a long way toward creating goodwill and reducing panic, especially in these days and time.

Sure. The problem is not adsense. The problem is the visitor that is not clicking the mosquito repellent ad or the surgical material ad that shows on the Bible pages. Yeah, right!

Apparently google understands how broadly one can interpret these holy scriptures.

The Googlebot moves in mysterious ways? So mysterious that not even God has a clue what is going on with Adsense. And here are we waiting for a miracle - hoping that the Adsense people won't "improve" anything else.

Are advertisers seeing a proportionate reduction in their spending or is G creaming off their fubar with extra profits?

Way behind here too, but ads look relevant and targeted. From a publishers point of view Google is becoming a complete joke.

mysticalsock, is your traffic from the US?
I'm not in the US and I see ads not targeted all over.
Maybe non targeting is affecting mostly traffic from outside of the US? Could it be that G doesn't have enough ads to fill spaces and now shows any ad available? Just a thought.

Not mutually exclusive, the former almost certainly true, the latter--we'll never know.

Hi tonyvf,
My traffic's pretty evenly spread across 3 countries including the US but I'm viewing from the UK. The ads I'm seeing are pretty much spot on as far as targeting goes unlike the other day when Google had their 'little' targeting glitch. Today traffic is slightly above normal but earnings can be counted in cents.

got my click dump at around 5 a.m. G time. It looked so generous that I thought it included clicks from yesterday (all time low eCPM yesterday). By now it's just the usual miserable eCPM sliding down as days go on.

Impressions still going up however CTR has dropped significantly.

Msg#: 3866454 posted 10:01 pm on Mar 9, 2009 (gmt 0)

Hmmm...20% extra clicks however unless G keeps doing this every hour for the next few hours it looks like another "new lower daily average" norm.

The only consolation is Sterling depreciating against the Dollar!

Mine is just bad, bad, bad. A few hours into the day:

Page impressions: 10,000
Clicks: 3,000
Earnings: $0.50

I don't know if I'm being clickbombed or smart-priced or Google is just effing me up!

AdSenseAdvisor can enlighten us as to what's gone wrong today? Although I can now see some clicks in my account the money earned is 99.9% less than on a bad day, at the rate things are going I'll soon be paying adsense to display their ads.
