I didn't get a message from Google in March, April or May. So when one arrived in June, I took notice.

It tells me if I add Referral ads to my site I can increase my income.

About the same time as I read that message, I received an email from a new friend in Nigeria. He has $10 million he needs to park somewhere for a couple of weeks and if I let him use my bank account, I'll get to keep 30% of the money.

I don't know what to do. I don't want to be greedy and do both, but I'm having a hard time deciding between the two.

That's strange, I think he's fiddling you since he wrote to me that he had $30 million. I'm not so sure about this since I also got an e-mail from the Ukraine offering me $250 million courtesy of a very wealthy Russian oilman.

Should we join forces and find out who's telling the truth?

Ha you guys aren't even close, today must have been my lucky day, I got news from Arthur MoneyPenny in Nigeria that he has an inheritance of $100 Million but does not have money to pay legal fees to probate his fathers will, for a small contribution of $100.00 he will give me 50% of the inheritance.

Whoopee!

Say goodbye to Adsense and hello Paris!

From my albeit very brief test of Google referrals and everything else I've heard about it, your new Nigerian friend just might have the better deal.

I certainly haven't seen much of anything from referral ads. They barely get clicked and when they do, they don't convert.

au contraire! oh they do... when someone clicks on my referral ads, USD $300 million is channeled from the United Bank of Nigeria into Google's account and I receive my commision of 20 cents!

LOL! and you guys thought you were earning BIG bucks! Ha!

I seem to be having problems in bed, thankfully a few companies have a solution for that, too late though cos my divorce is already underway, loads of lawyers around though, and I am not too worried as there seems to be loads of single women just waiting for me. But first I must sell my car, buy a new one, add a few links to my sites, handle all these millions I have just won and am about to cleverly negotiate, give up smoking (although I thought I had already done that), and renegotiate my mortgage I don't have and soon with those millions won't need ........

I do not use GAS referrals but google gave me the same suggestion quite a few times already.

Maybe we should all persuade our friends from Nigeria to sign up for Google Referral Ads.

hmmm I wonder if there's an option somewhere in our GAS control panel to switch on "via*ra effects". Maybe that would add to our earnings size or at least help sustain longer stability.

The Nigerians are moving on to a new idea. They aren't offering swampland in Florida or the Brooklyn bridge. Now they're emailing offering a free piece of Sahara desert. They say it's really low maintenance. They claim it's more reliable than gold; its value will never decrease.

Go for the Nigeria deal, at least a human will respond to your emails and the offer is more dependable than referral ads.

I got an offer for 230 million from a 'top UK financeer' (sic) who is unaccountably using a yahoo.nl address, perhaps whilst he is getting his dyslexia sorted out over there.

Since I am already making millions from my Google referrals I was able to turn him down.

wow! you mean I can own my own piece of desert just like that?

No need to waste time selecting which parts of the desert match my content and find later my desert has got large holes in it?

No need to click and wait for payment in progress?

They just send me my very own piece of desert via email?

whoopeedooo! where do I sign up?

For some reason, they decided to skip March, April, and May with the Optimization Report.

I saw the message on June 1st:

"Placing more than one ad unit on a page often generates more revenue."

Well, all I can say is I've tried more than one ad unit on a page, and it actually generates LESS revenue!

Not trying to be cynical but all these tips seem to be more helpful to google than the publisher. Referals, many ads, no filtering, etc. They usually help get more clicks but the total earnings are down and you lose your visitors to their sponsors.

My problems are completely different.

I have to choose between my family and a nice looking girl who is deeply in love with me. I didn't order my special priced enlargement pills (and we are talking 73% discount here!), so she must really be in love.

She's not the girl wearing the incredible value Rolex watch is she?

She also offered me guaranteed rental on my luxury property investment whilst also advising me how I could earn $10,000 a day working part time.

I reckon she's on to some sort of AdSense scam but, hey, what do I know? The gold I bought from her close friend seemed to be a bargain however now I am having to have debt counselling...she seemed so nice.

Is this girl that is being advertising since weeks in my site as a sexy girl?
Is she selling Rolex to pay her Adwords?
I think she is Nigerian

Optimization Reports and Referral ads will require a higher quality before they will deserve any consideration.

There must have been a manager's status meeting at the 'Plex.. I think it went something like this:

Big Wig (BW): "How is our referral ad program coming along?"

Hapless Program Manager (HPM): "Not so good, BW. Publishers have been slow to adopt them."

BW: "Well, we need to meet our goals for the program. How can we boost adoption rates?"

HPM: "We could incorporate publisher feedback into our program. We've received a lot of negative feedback about conversion rates and ad quality, so it might help if we made an effort to increase the advertiser quality, and give more and better control to publishers."

BW: (echoing a familiar refrain) "That sounds like a lot of work for us, and giving publishers greater control is against our best interests and the interests of our advertisers..."

HPM: "I know, but what else can we do?"

BW: "Isn't it about time we sent out another 'Optimization Report'?..."

HPM: "As you wish, m'lord."

... need I say more?

I've done dealings with both your Nigerian friend and Google. I've found the Nigerian guy to be more honest and reliable and much less likely to try to screw you over. :D

Oh, it's just another Google Adsense update/maintenance/optimization tip (fill in the blank).
