I finally broke the $150/month mark
a?success? story

 12:56 pm on Nov 24, 2007 (gmt 0)

I've been a publisher for 1.5 years and since day ONE till last month I was stock at the $150 per month I was never able to get above it.

Well I just broke it today with $153 as I write and 6 days yet to go :)

why post this?

I don't know probably because it won't matter much to my wife if i tell her ;)

 2:35 pm on Nov 24, 2007 (gmt 0)

Cool, let's hope it keeps up! :)

 2:48 pm on Nov 24, 2007 (gmt 0)

Your next target I would say has to be 10$ a day!

 6:10 pm on Nov 24, 2007 (gmt 0)

...it won't matter much to my wife if i tell her ;)

LOL. I can appreciate that. But you can tell her that you could have chosen an expensive hobby rather than one that pays you, so really it's the same as if you were making hundreds per month, maybe even thousands.

 6:26 pm on Nov 24, 2007 (gmt 0)

Good luck, but get another wife that inspires you to do better, probably younger models come with that option included.

 7:08 pm on Nov 24, 2007 (gmt 0)

I, for one, am happy to read this, having just introduced AS to my site two weeks ago (all is working well, albeit modestly). Did you have steady growth from the get-go, or did you hit a plateau early on and remained there until this month?

 9:59 pm on Nov 24, 2007 (gmt 0)

Thank you all for your answers

I hope so too but I never heard about an ever green land i think it is bound to drop again

$10 a day WOW is it doable for me?

lol I do have a hobby that cost me thousands that's why i started adsense to cover it ;)

I hope she won't read this :)

Good luck Castlegirl in your venture.
In summary I hit the $150 since month one and stayed there for 1.5 year of course in the beginning it took me a lot of efforts to promote the site since i wasn't yet indexed by google. but for some reason i was never able to break the $150 before this month.
Just a bit of advice take full advantage of your early days with AS smart pricing hits pretty quick

 12:27 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

I finally broke the $150/month mark

So that's about $5 a day. Do you mind to share how many hours a day, on average, do you spend working on your site to promote Adsense?

 12:40 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

I don't mind sharing anything :)

I don't "promote adsense" now I just add contents.

Before my site got indexed by google I was always trying to promote in in forums, emails etc...

since it got indexed (it took 6 months to appear in google) I just work on contents (about 1 hour per day)

I have about 1.5k unique hits per day and a CTR of aprox 2%

but i'm still FAR from making all my living on the net

 1:06 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

i was climbing up to 300$/day, been there for couple of months and than started to decline with no means to improve, i am now somewhere at the 80$ a day. after 18 months of decline

be prepared.

<edit >- ops , you are talking PER MONTH <BG>...... should read better....</edit>

 1:13 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

YES per month :) :( $10 a day are even a dream for me

 1:37 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

Congratulations and good luck climbing higher!

If you are publishing good content for the world, that means you are getting paid for doing a good thing. How awesome is that?

 2:02 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

Just a quick update I reach $10 today as I write now :)

ok i'm trying not to get too overexcited I know it can't last but still it is good to have it even if it just for one day (and the day is not yet finished :))

 2:15 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

Nice going on. Keep working on site, who knows one day you may earn $150 per day.

 2:35 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

I don't "promote adsense" now I just add contents.

Thanks for reply.

Have you noticed a relationship between your earnings and the quality of your content? I mean - if the content is not as good and throughout as it possibly could be, have you noticed higher earnings?

I'm not sure if you track your outgoing clicks somehow, but do your users click more often on the Adsense links from a page that has a better quality content than from a page that has less quality content?

 3:10 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

> I have about 1.5k unique hits per day and a CTR of approx 2%.

You should be able to double that easily. What's your Adsense Profile (page layout, ad position, ad size(s), percentage of pages with ads, number of ads/page, color scheme, blending/not, etc.)?

 7:09 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

Again thanks all
My opinion only, I get more clicks from visitors than from readers.
what I mean is that, from time to time, i post a viral kind of stuff that drives a lot of traffic from just ppl who will access my site once. and I notice that those kind of persons click more. So to put it in your terms low quality stuff

DOUBLE that? I posted not so long ago a thread calling for help to double my CTR it seems u missed it :)
Anyway if it doesn't bother you, i can PM you the site link if you can take a look at it

 9:31 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

My impression is that most of us have gone from {..........} this much per. day, to this {...} much per. day over the past few years.

 9:41 am on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

Actually I've gone from {...} to {........} by focusing on content and traffic not AdSense, yes if things were more predictable with AdSense I would have been making {.................} instead, but I can live with {...} if I have to.

ArtistMike, I wonder if eCPM and EPC representation by {.....} could be a violation of the TOS.

Anyway, the lesson here is to focus on what makes you {...} and grow it, then the {........} will follow, or whatever that means!

 2:14 pm on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

My AdSense earnings:

OK, not really. That would be a picture of my wife and I holding hands and walking away...I'm not saying which is which of us.

2% may or may not be a good CTR, depends on the pages and the users.

 2:23 pm on Nov 25, 2007 (gmt 0)

I don't think it matters if it's high or low quality. What counts is traffic and positioning of ads.

My theory is that it's the people who just pop in and out who tend to click on ads. Regular visitors may click now and then but if you find what you want on a site site why click on an ad?

It's still good to have solid content as it brings visitors who tell others about the site and may even link to it.

But having been in a rut for a while on what I make I'm thinking of adding something like a directory of terms and pattern names for my hobby just to add pages that might attract more quick visits.

 8:36 am on Nov 26, 2007 (gmt 0)

Another $14 day for me :)

 3:07 pm on Nov 26, 2007 (gmt 0)

Congratulations! Looks like October 20 update is good for you :) (if those are really related)

 6:27 am on Nov 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

My first site launched in January 2005. This site made mere pennies and it took me over a year to get my first payment. Three months after my first payment, I was stable to the point of making $150-$200 monthly from that one site. That continues until today.

On October 14th I launched a new site. It made me $50 the first day and stayed in the range of $40-$75 until the very end of October. I ended up having my first $1000+ month in October! I am very excited!

The new site, however, slowly has started to die down in traffic and my eCPM has effectively went down by half. I only make around $10-$20 a day from it now, in addition to the $7-$8 from my old site. I will probably end up with around $800 this month.

 7:02 am on Nov 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

You are getting $10-$20 a day from a one month old site :¦

can you tell us a bit more about how do you do that?

 8:41 am on Nov 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

@dualfragment, how many unique visitors you get daily?

 12:07 pm on Nov 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

MonthPage Loads UniVisitors ..FirstTimeVisitors ..returningVisitors
Oct 2007 ..23,113 .....2,907 .......... 2,366 ........ 541

we still are making around half what you are making....
so lots of optimization to be done in our sites................

but we have done many things now...read around 3 books on adsense tweaking and thousand of posts...still.....so next..we are thinking....
we have done all basic things are 100% clear and use legal ways only....

any suggestions...

 12:29 pm on Nov 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

>any suggestions

Yes, read less books and more posts.

 5:07 pm on Nov 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

Stick to Webmasterworld posts too, some really knowledgeable post here.

 11:10 pm on Nov 27, 2007 (gmt 0)

The site got 75,000 unique visits the first month, from October 14 - November 14. It also had 1,335,000 page impressions.

The site was doing a lot more than $10-$20 a day the first month, but it has went down to those numbers now.

The site is related to a video game. I launched the site by ONLY posting links to it on two message boards and I got 50,000 page impressions the first day. I get around half that right now, but I'll be launching a ton of new features shortly that will help to increase my visits again.

I offer a unique site that isn't just the content you are thinking of. I really don't even have to do anything like write content. The site gets it's data by itself. You could call it a statistics website for this video game.
