Forty isn't old, for heaven's sake. You're barely middle-aged. And age has nothing to do with one's ability to earn money from AdSense or other revenue sources.

As old as my tongue, and a little bit older than my teeth. (That probably gives it away right there) I intend to keep AdSense up as long as I keep my websites up, and no plans to bring them down. And I saw 40 *long* ago...

40 too Think of it this way, the older you are, the wiser and more experienced and have more to say about everything. Mutant Teenage AdSensers perhaps perform better in social networking sites, ringtones and whatever other fads I am unaware of. Too old for AdSense? Never, unless they cancel my account, then you bet I'll be back here writing about the shame of being an AdSenser ;-) It wasn't the same without you HB.

I just turned 40 as well, and I've been doing this full-time for 5 years now. If business stays on its current track, I hope to be retired by 50.

I'm 30's, look 40's, and by the way I give my daughter "In my day..." speaches, it could be argued that I act 50. Now that should make you feel better. The stereotypical nerd is eternally 18. As Bill Gate's face can attest, we all age. But the good news is, we get smarter too.

HB I'm not sure age is that much of a factor in adsense.. For what it's worth, I'm 48. I can still split and stack a cord of wood in an afternoon (With an electric splitter) and hold my own in a quick sparring match with my son. The trick is to quit before I get winded.. once he catches on to that, I'm toast... Someone posted earlier that the youngsters would have an advantage in some of the pop culture and ringtone stuff. I have to agree with that. We are targeted a little differently. Just as an indication of the age diffs.. I have a couple of youtube videos posted and one of the first comments was 'sick video'.. I forget what the other sentence was.. Anyway, I asked around with the younger folks and supposedly that's today's way of saying they liked something... One thing I do need to do is to make sure my wife and son have all the 'adsense keys'.. Hey, I feel great etc but at 48 you are generally closer to the end than the beginning. It would be a bummer to start making some real money, kick the bucket and not leave the codes and methodology for one's loved ones. I've beaten the guy with the dark hood and sickle a dozen times so far but that won't always be the case.. If your sites are 'evergreen' to a large extent, then why not keep it going? Anyway, I've decided to do an all out effort on adsense over the next couple of weeks to see if that starts to get me to a decent income.. In other words, all spare time will go into reworking sites, checking ads, trying to build links and all the other related nonsense. good luck and welcome back /ramble cg

Hey you guys are ooooooold. I'm a young 41 with a waist to match and prematurely greyed hair. I need reading glasses but still wanna look cool wearng contacts, so I carry discreet wallet-sized reading glasses. They come in handy when I need to read my paltry adsense earnings... (Khensu, you make me jealous). Pretty girls don't feel I'm a threat anymore because they know they can outrun me and my creaky bones. My kids love me to bits coz they say they have to be nice to old people. Crap... I feel like an overnight fried egg.
