Optimization report
Who else detests the report on our overview pages?

That is the most insidious little thing to have to put up with that I have ever seen...not to mention it's right there in your face while you wait for the slow thing to finish.

Mine is still showing the April report with NO way to turn it off! I have tried they're 'dismiss' but no matter, it doesn't work either...I want rid of the darn thing.

OOOPS, 'They're' should read 'the'

Please overlook this post.

Thanks

I don't see the tips section anymore (I'm suffering tips blindness). I guess the same will happen with the 'personalized tips' if G can't come up with some serious suggestions. Adding more ad units and empty your filter just belongs to the tips.

Ann, with you there: it wastes a valuable bit of screen real-estate with its Fools' Day vacuous/patronising message.

Please, G, make it go away...

(A rare grumble about AS from someone normally classed as a fanboy/shill!)

Besides hating the content of those messages, I can't stand that they won't go away. It also drives me nuts all the time now since I must scroll down to click on one of my reports.

Keep up the great user interface Google - not.

Thanks for responding.

I see no earthly reason for them to even add them to our overview pages....Guess it was an attempt to get people to feel a touch of guilt (about not doing what they want).

Doesn't bother me as far as guilt goes since I know I have tried everything I can think of to help but I am still looking. :)

One year ago, I think in Jan., my clicks suddenly were cut in halfwith impressions same or better and traffic same or better....just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Actually the tips are a bit insulting.

I see no earthly reason to get so worked up about it. Why are you so bothered by something so trivial?

Geez, maybe "non-earthly" then!

It's silly and annoying.
As the months go by, is the page just going to get longer and longer?

When a mild "rant" thread is started, only those who agree should post.- "Man Law"

When it comes to advice from G I tend to take the George Castanza approach - do the opposite.

I'd prefer that such communications come by e-mail instead of permanently cluttering up the report page, but I can't get too worked up about it.

I must say it is a pain having it there since April without being able to switch it off.

The most irritating aspect is the nature of the advice given. As far as I am concerned the advice is (at best) too generic to be of any use to me. In my opinion adding more Ad-blocks can potentially contribute to an oversupply situation, thus further eroding our epc. Whilst unblocking scum mfa's will only increase their chances of success.

Speaking for myself - if the tips were indeed helpful and not just mass produced stuff then I wouldn't be complaining. But as it is, the same message is sent out to everyone - making it useless. They may has well post this stuff on their optimisation tips page - or somewhere else. I think it is out and out misleading - and makes you think that they have actually assessed your particular account/sites in some way - which is obviously not the case.

I say be gone.....

I think they are completely pointless generic pieces of crap. The wording is misleading and makles people think that these tips are personal to their accounts - which we all know isn't the case. Waste of space if you ask me.

If the comp wasn't worth a lot more than the tips I would throw it accross the room when I confront that so called tip.

The tip in question has always been reachable in their tips section.

The tip in question has always been reachable in their tips section.

Maybe they figured that most publishers haven't visited this section yet.

Perhaps we should start a thread that discusses tips that publishers would consider helpful.

With Adsesnse in my mind,
Please Google do be kind.

Don't put my account on hold,
You *are* the pot of gold.

Please Google do be kind.
I don't want affiliates to find.

Google, now tell me where do I go,
With no more Adsense to show.

The internet will continue to grow,
Even when arbritagers won't show.

At last I want to say,
My friends don't give up, just pray.

From the AdSense blog, 4/3/07:

You've got mail

If you've logged in to your account today, you've probably noticed the new 'Recent messages' section in your AdSense account. We're happy to let you know that this is your personal inbox where we'll send you customized optimization tips....

Yeah right.

Yeah, this is the lamest thing I can remember Google doing at the moment.

I was disappointed after reading my "personal" report tip to clear my ad filter.

Plus that stupid whirly circle thing...

It's much ado about nothing.
