Site Targeted ads
For my eyes only

 2:20 am on May 8, 2007 (gmt 0)

Occasionally I see a site targeted CPM ad on my website.

Here's the odd thing... these ads only show up when I'm viewing a page. There are no ad impressions for any other visitors. ( the ads don't seem to be geo targeted either).

Anyone else notice this phenomenon? I wonder what it means? I wonder if the regular ads I see are the ones seen by my visitors?

I've learned that with geo-targeting, I have no clue about which ads are being shown to my visitors.

However, I haven't noticed CPM ad impressions showing up only when I view a page. The impressions totals are small, but most of them come from visitors on my site.

There are no ad impressions for any other visitors.

Maybe that is because you a not clicking on your own contextual ads, thus adsense algorithm decided to maximize your earnings at least by site targeted impressions :)

I have noticed something similar too. The ads I saw on a 'medical/health discussion board' website were mainly of 'Web Hosting' & 'Web Development'. It seemed like they were more aligned with what I have searched for in past couple of weeks, as compared to the content on website where the ads were displayed.

'Web Hosting' & 'Web Development'

That's interesting... I guess that is why my ads often default to lyrics for 'bear naked ladies'
