On my Invision message board, I'm about to make a new topic to ask for donations. Is it ok to mention that there will be a skin without ads only for the members whom donate on a monthly basis? That will be the only line with a reference to advertisements.

That sounds fine - theres certainly no encouragement for your visitors to click the ads in that :)
But, the old rule applies - if in doubt, send the exact wording you are planning to use to Adsense for their review and wait for their frustratingly generic answer. (Sorry, feeling cynical :( )

Yes its perfectly fine as per what you are saying , also you can always start paid membership and dont show up ads over there also instead of donation types
