or something else

Hi all,

I am starting one website that is about one specific music genre. It would be a full-featured portal, with news listing on the frontpage, with "encyclopedia" articles (general info, artists, events etc...) and also a user section just like myspace (http://example.com/username address for each user, each user can upload photos, set avatar, manage buddylist, write blog, write comments, even write new encyclopedia articles) and so on...

There would be certain connection between encyclopedia and users. For example, user can see article about his favorite artist, click "add to favorites", and then the artists thumb photo will appear on user's profile page, etc...

Now, my question is, would adsense be successfull on this kind of website? I played a little bit with encyclopedia articles, putting adsense code there, and targeting is pretty good. This music genre is popular worldwide, it always has "something happening", so I would have fresh content. Encyclopedia section would be most suitable for adsense.

I am sure I would also find Amazon refferals program useful (selling CDs of artists from my website)...

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

I take it you're worried that perhaps AdSense will be too "broad" in the sense that it doesn't cover your niche..

You could always just try it and see!

I would be more willing to try Amazon as you've said, as well as perhaps Apple's iTunes Music Store (Linkshare, among others, covers iTunes). I'm not sure how it would work exactly - have not done anything iTunes related since it's not my thing, but I've seen sites using Linkshare/iTunes, so obviously it can and is done.
