Welcome Linesiders to Webmaster World
I am also seeing similar patter in the end of december till today. Shar spikes, then massive drop.
December for me was not as great as prior months. People are traveling, shopping, and preoccupied with resolutions. Who knows... Things should pick up again soon. Maybe not even this week since it is a short week and people might be traveling still.
I always have a low period over december. Usually picks up towards mid Jan.
This December was the highest paid month for me. My forum crossed 3k but I was badly suffered in Nov 06 (just made only $900 from same forum with same level of traffic).
I think it is quite common to have spikes with adsense with same level of traffic. I have also noticed increase in site targeted ads. Hope it will continue in rest of 2007.
The first half of December was terrible, but the second half brought it up the point where overall, it was my second-best month ever. This matches seasonal interest in the topics on my main site fairly well, though, so it wasn't unexpected.
Earnings are always going up and down, but I don't recall anybody else reporting a "tremendous spike". From your numbers, it looks like your earnings went up 8X, which is quite a lot.
From the timing it obviously sounds like Christmas was involved in some way. Anyway the first step is to look at your stats. Was it your impressions, your CTR, the amount you were paid per click, or some combination of these that jumped?
|Anyone notice a tremendous spike just before the holidays that suffered a tragic death on Dec 26th? |
On the contrary - I see a pretty significant drop during this time period.
Every year my site tanks a few days before Xmas and then starts to rebound on Jan 1 and today it appears to be back to normal.
What the heck is wrong with these people that think it's OK to go out shopping, and partying and visiting family anyway?
Don't they know what they're doing to me?
They should get their butts back at their computer and click on my site, CLICK I SAY!
I can understand your pain. I had my worst day and best day for the past year in Dec. Maybe things will pick-up when Government employees return back to work tommorow.

I resemble that remark. However from personal experience I must add we Public Sector Employees spemd more time downloading video than clicking ads - at least in my experience ;)
As for the ecpm, heading for an all time low 19k impressions and some kid on a bike yelling he want's his 2 dollars back.
|makes a little sense|
More than likely, your advertisers stopped their holiday campaign. I've noticed pathetic figures beginning with January 1st myself.
I only hope this is a holiday blip that will start to recover next week. Otherwise I'll need to sell 1/2 of my double wide.
By the way, the new yahoo advertising interface works really nicely - too bad nobody uses yahoo for search.
