Google Gift Has Arrived
santa looked like a fedex driver

Doubt that I'm the first, but this is sure early compared to last year when I was sitting in the bathroom feeling all rejected with a razor blade waiting to open a vein if that Google gift didn't show up the day before xmas.....

Just kidding, I use an electric razor, and it showed up :)

Tonight, the knock at the door came and it was the Fedex Santa once again bringing goodies to all the good boys and girls that shoved AdSense in their visitors faces all year long.

Everyone knows I've been naughty, but this gift sure is nice!

The gift specs are as follows:

* 3.6 inch TFT digital photo frame
* 960 x 240 TFT screen, 16 mega-color
* Picture: JPG format
* Audio: MP3, WMA, WAV and records WAV itself
* Video: ASF only
* Media: Internal memory and SD card, comes with sample slideshow in memory
* USB 1.1 interface
* Power: 4 AA batteries or USB 5V or AC/DC power adapter

All I can say, in my best Borat accent, is...
"IT'S VERY NIIIIIICE! I LIKE! HIGH 5!"

Thank you Google, well done ;)

Happy Holidays to everyone at Google and especially AdSense Advisor, Matt Cutts, Adam Lasnik, Vanessa Fox, Brian White, Phoebe Ho, or as Santa would call her, Phoebe HO! HO! HO! and if I missed anyone I'm sorry, you'll just have to send me hate mail.

Oh yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all you turkeys too ;)

Google mailed me that they won't be shiping gifts to Croatia. they had problems in the past, so if you live there no gift :)

I understand them, since our customs hold everything on the border, and you have to pay much money to get the darn thing. (something about country getting extra money to pay retired people christmas bonus, and their budget is empty).

for example, one of my affiliates sent me ipod shuffle (70$) that was payed, shipped by fedex (also payed), but darn' customs in croatia want me to pay 100$ to lift the package from customs!

I rejected it, so it went back to affiliate who should pay extra 50$ for shipment (!?). so I beleive he rejected it to,

..and now my nice iPod went for destruction on border...

ABSURD!

I've gotten the "good" gift for the past few years, but this year I only received a card. Interesting, considering I had my best earning year to date.

Thanks for the card, anyway, Google. Merry Christmas everyone.

error, you stated that you live in denmark here:

[webmasterworld.com...]

you also state you signed up with adsense in 2003 here:

[webmasterworld.com...]

and than that 2005 is your first month with adsense here:

[webmasterworld.com...]

make up your mind :) any relevant responses from Croatia earners? I get more than **,***.xx in two months, and have been earner for 12 months, would I normally qualify?

thnks

I got a radio one year - but this year I got a "happy holidays" card.

They should have wrote in it- thank you for letting us ban you and not pay you for two months revenue (3600$ *cry*) :)

I used to like google - but not anymore after being banned with no valid reason, and no way to contact them. YPN all the way- at least they have real support!

I just received a digital photo frame. I was surprised because I didn't expect any mails from USA (to Australia).

It was a nice surprise, but I just can't find an external SD memory card in the package. It's missing! or hiding somewhere?

I emailed to Google support, but they told me to directly talk to the supplier. I checked the invoice(?), but don't know who is the supplier.

Even I was searching for the SD card, but I think only a card reader is included, there is no memory card. Search for Google gift + photoframe, no one seems to have got a SD card

I don't believe an SD card is intended to be included.

Tip: when transferring files to the frame (jpg or mp3) I've found you need to put the frame through a power off - power on cycle before it recognises the new files for display or play.

i got mine too. No sd card. But the big problem is that it worked for 5 minutes, after the screen started acting weird and now is not working anymore (and is not a battery problem).
Who may i contact now?

I received mine too today. Two btw, like last year.
I think I get one from AS and other from AW.

I also get the file error message, it seems there are some JPGs it just don't like, I uploaded like 10 and they are slide showing right now.
I've not figured out which one is causing the File error message.

What I have no idea what is for, is a batery icon on the right lower corner of the frame. It is running with the adapter, not in bateries, but it seems that's an indicator to either "Running on batteries" or "Batteries low". Neither is my case.

Got mine just today, a nice digital picture frame.

Search for Google gift + photoframe, no one seems to have got a SD card

No SD Card either, I'll just buy a large one, so that I can store more MP3's.

when transferring files to the frame (jpg or mp3) I've found you need to put the frame through a power off - power on cycle before it recognizes the new files for display or play.

Thanks, thats right. I still have to use the transcoding software to be able to view t he files correctly.

Thanks Google for my first christmas gift.

I've done some testing with different JPG options in order to see what works and what doesn't.

* Progressive mode - don't use this, it won't work.
* "Optimize" mode - don't use this, it won't work.
* 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 - only use 4:2:2 mode, 4:4:4 won't work.
* Photo resolution or aspect ratio - doesn't matter.
* File name length - doesn't matter.
* Compress level - doesn't matter.
* Smoothing - doesn't matter.

In Corel Photo-Paint I'm able to directly save JPG files that work with the following settings:

* Progressive: no
* Optimize: no
* Sub: 4:2:2
* Compression: Any
* Smoothing: Any

I was able to get ACDSee to save JPG files that work with the following settings:

* Image Quality: Any
* Progressive: No
* Optimize Huffman Codes: No
* 2:1 Horizontal: Yes
* 2:1 Vertical: Yes

The default encoding used by Windows Paint (there are no options) works fine.

I was *unable* to get Adobe Photoshop CS to save a JPG file that would work on the device. I suspect it is always using 4:4:4 encoding.

I've read in this forum and some blogs that Google has started sending its 2006 gifts to some Google AdSense and Google AdWords clients. How I wished I could also receive this 2006 Google gift!

To my pleasant surprise, a piece of Google gift arrived at my Malaysian office 2 days ago, and you can see a photo of the Google gift here

<snip>

Who else has received this gift too, in particular, in Asia?

I got a digital photo frame today. The neighbour accepted the package which was originally arrived on 15.12.06... pretty cool. I'm visiting my family for xmas, so I've got a bunch of holiday pictures rotating on the mantel. Thanks G :)

Shipment was received in Canada.

Ps. Last year's gift is definately the most handy thing to have for someone who travels a lot like myself!

Last year I got the gift and the card, though I was one of the last ones to get them. (Tennessee USA)

This year, no card yet and no gift. I've made enough last year and this year through Adsense to support two familes, which I do. That is a considerable income stream for Google, due to my efforts, though I know I am not a top earner.

I think the 'no card' yet tells me again I will be processed in the last group. Surely I am at least worthy of a card. Other affiliate partners, that have earned a whole lot less from me, have already sent their exceptionally nice cards and gifts to us.

Well, I have not had a card or a gift ever, from G.

Perhaps they run out by the time they get to the "S" last names. Oh wait, yours looks like it starts with "T". There goes that theory. :(

My first year with the program they sent a little booklet on 8 tips how to optimize for AdSense. I thought that was a holiday present, but I think now that it was not.

I did get a nice email from AdSense telling me how great they are and all the improvements they've made. Perhaps I'll just think of that as a Holiday Card.

For those whining about the gift has not arrived.
The package is marked as "If undeliverable please discard", which AFAIK means, they (Fedex) can just mark a package as they never found you and throw it to the garbage.
Or keep it, whatever.
