www.google.com and news.google.com are both completely unavailable for me via AT&T in San Francisco--"server not found"--and have been so for an hour. Google Analytics is responding with long delays.
All ok here in Czech Republic and probably through out Europe.
It has to be something related to a backbone in california. Valuclick is alos completly down so both adsense and valuclick ads are not showing on my sites.
All OK in the UK.
Try direct access using some known IP addresses, or the new GFE datacentre [webmasterworld.com] domain names.
My web host based in Californa (dreamhost) had some power issues last night. All my websites were down for 30min-1 hour. Everything works now but this doesn't come as a surprise.
I was having the problem from India. Now it is fine, but websites stats are very low.
I've tried using a couple of IP's and they are going up and down also. That would rule out the idea of any DNS problems I would presume
Colorado, no connection at this moment, then just got it, kinda slow.
Search OK but Gmail is totally fubar (alternating error pages and js error messages) from Vancouver Canada...
Could be coordinated DOS attacks. I can access Google just fine, but my other adserver for banners and other display ads, ValueClick Media (FastClick), is completely down. Ads won't serve, admin interface is busted too.
Since I have not been very happy with VC since they bought out Fastclick last September, I am in the process of switching over to Casale Media, the best IMO for display ads.
You know, when Al Gore invented the Internet, he warned that this could happen as a result of global warming.
Some people have never heard of "relax, go out and get a coffee." Works wonder when Google goes down. There ain't no point blaming them or saying they should be regulated because "they are the Internet." If your business model is based on Google alone, then you need to re-think that business model, not blame Google.
Harry: I relaxed and went out and got a cup of coffee at 8:00 PM Pacific time last night, assuming all would be well soon. It's now more than 12 hours later and the problem is still happening.
It appears itís only a west coast problem. Iíve tried various proxys located in other areas and all seems fine. Wish it would get fixed because people here are arriving at work and will be surfing away soon.
Might be because of blackouts
Maybe I spoke too soon. Google admin interface will not show "overview". Other than that, ads are displaying on my site and other parts of the admin int are working OK.
FastClick/ValueClick still down for the count since at least an hour ago.
from the UK no probs with google search, news etc BUT when logged into adsense cp all works except the "view payment history" link it gives this page
I wanted to check the exchange rate, no biggy
> Google admin interface will not show "overview".
Same here. 8:32AM PST
Adsense and Adwords sites partially down but ads still running. That's good enough for me :)
They still running here but sometimes a wee bit slow.
The Admin is dead slow.
Ads seem OK.
Google news OK.
No Adsense sign-in.
40 miles south of Google headquarters.
9:06 AM Google time (PDST)
Reports work in adsense but MyAccount shows System Down.
9:30 PM IST (INDIA) via Bharati TeleVentures Ltd.
You'd think Google having a major outage would be news. But so far I haven't seen anything in the media.
My adsense sites are taking forever to load on a T1
Google down as well. Its been like this since last night.
I am located about an hour south of Mountain View.
|when they are down, the Internet is practically unusable. Ridiculous. |
Well now I know that I need sites with more than just adsense. This pushes me to build on some of my affiliate site ideas.
|40 miles south of Google headquarters. |
[humour]So if you go now, you should have it fixed for us/them by lunch time ;)
Oh and while you're there try to sort out the other search problems were having with them too, thanks in advance, say when its done ;)[/humour]
On a serious note, stats all seem "ok" so far today, admin facility is sloooow/not happening but ads have been showing at normal speeds for me, on my sites and others

She'll pick you up on the way!

Guys, can anyone test these in IE7-beta and let us all know whether sites hang just as in IE6, or load eventually, like in FireFox?
still down in AZ, all google sites
Level 3 hosting in San Diego:
Adwords sites failing to load
SBC DSL and Cox cable connections:
Analytics very slow
Overview working now 9:36AM PST
It has to be a west coast thing, folks.
I got a frantic e-mail from another webmaster in California last night telling me to pull all ads because AdSense was down and preventing pages from loading.
I checked (here in Michigan) and all was fine. Even my numbers (views and clicks) are steady. Maybe I don't have a lot of west coast visitors? :)
Today everything is still fine.
Good luck, everyone.
