www.google.com and news.google.com are both completely unavailable for me via AT&T in San Francisco--"server not found"--and have been so for an hour. Google Analytics is responding with long delays.

All OK in the UK. Try direct access using some known IP addresses, or the new GFE datacentre [webmasterworld.com] domain names.

My web host based in Californa (dreamhost) had some power issues last night. All my websites were down for 30min-1 hour. Everything works now but this doesn't come as a surprise.

I've tried using a couple of IP's and they are going up and down also. That would rule out the idea of any DNS problems I would presume

Could be coordinated DOS attacks. I can access Google just fine, but my other adserver for banners and other display ads, ValueClick Media (FastClick), is completely down. Ads won't serve, admin interface is busted too. Since I have not been very happy with VC since they bought out Fastclick last September, I am in the process of switching over to Casale Media, the best IMO for display ads.

Some people have never heard of "relax, go out and get a coffee." Works wonder when Google goes down. There ain't no point blaming them or saying they should be regulated because "they are the Internet." If your business model is based on Google alone, then you need to re-think that business model, not blame Google.

Harry: I relaxed and went out and got a cup of coffee at 8:00 PM Pacific time last night, assuming all would be well soon. It's now more than 12 hours later and the problem is still happening.

It appears it’s only a west coast problem. I’ve tried various proxys located in other areas and all seems fine. Wish it would get fixed because people here are arriving at work and will be surfing away soon.

Maybe I spoke too soon. Google admin interface will not show "overview". Other than that, ads are displaying on my site and other parts of the admin int are working OK. FastClick/ValueClick still down for the count since at least an hour ago.

My adsense sites are taking forever to load on a T1 Google down as well. Its been like this since last night. I am located about an hour south of Mountain View. | when they are down, the Internet is practically unusable. Ridiculous. |
| Well now I know that I need sites with more than just adsense. This pushes me to build on some of my affiliate site ideas.

It has to be a west coast thing, folks. I got a frantic e-mail from another webmaster in California last night telling me to pull all ads because AdSense was down and preventing pages from loading. I checked (here in Michigan) and all was fine. Even my numbers (views and clicks) are steady. Maybe I don't have a lot of west coast visitors? :) Today everything is still fine. Good luck, everyone.
