Manual penalty removed and I didn't do anything? np2003 msg:4642535 7:22 am on Feb 5, 2014 (gmt 0) This is how it goes.. Had 5 sites that were "manually" penalized, e.g. "manual action".. 1 site penalized... Asked for reconsideration request.. Never got the "you're no longer penalized" message.. All 5 sites now back in index ranking high again. Checked webmaster tools, no messages for any account.. Really confused.. ?

I think something is happening right now. I have a few sites that have returned to positions pre update and going strong. goodroi msg:4642981 11:29 am on Feb 6, 2014 (gmt 0)
Some penalties are time based and eventually expire. Google has a bunch of different types of penalties. ohno msg:4643028 4:40 pm on Feb 6, 2014 (gmt 0)
IMO.... Some penalties are time based and eventually expire. Google is just a bunch of different types of penalties. I wouldn't depend on it staying that way. For all you know they switched one filter off to test something, your sites could disappear again on a whim tomorrow.

Hi np2003, when did you receive the original penalty? tangor msg:4643614 12:59 am on Feb 9, 2014 (gmt 0)
There seem to be times that G (B, too) reset to "earlier" and then make comparisons. Something I've been looking at the last three years. Seems to cycle for 90 days every year. Is this testing on their part to see if their algos are working? Or fine tuning? That said, I wouldn't bank on anything. Just keep plugging away. Secondary: Keep your sites up. Keep them running. Do them right even if "penalized". Do this simply because they still work though not as well. Who knows? The powers that be just might let you play again.
