Authorship picture is gone

My picture for authorship doesn't show in search results anymore and I haven't changed anything to my website other than the fact that my PR is diluted because I have many duplicate content page.

Could it be the reason why my picture is gone and will it reappear once the duplicate content pages are removed ?

Thank you,

I don't think this has anything to do with duplicate content.

I have a small website of 10 pages, no duplicate content at all and the authorship has gone from some pages.

In fact it only remained connected to "About Us" page.

Perhaps Google is experimenting when to show it and when not.

"Rich snippets" with photos and bylines aren't guaranteed, and they can come and go. Sometimes they'll disappear for one domain but continue displaying on others.

You can test to see if the url is set up correctly here:

Maybe the issue I have is the fact that I am the author of my own website and this is the only place I publish something one. Could it be ?

G seem to be playing around with Rich Snippets and authorsip pics in the SERPS at the moment. One of our sites has lost almost all the Rich Snippets but has gained in authorship pics.

I'm more than happy at the moment because one of our authorsip pics is far better than Rich Snippets markup. They are definitely experimenting.

I think there's a hierarchy

> hardest: Rating submitted: G shows ratings stars and author line
> medium: No rating submitted yet so G shows author pic instead
> low: G considers page not suitable for either ratings star or author pic so just shows author line

I never used snippets before last year but from personal experience it is perfectly possible to achieve the top 'category' with a relatively new site. Mine was launched Nov '13, I have author pic for every page and had them since the launch, and on some I now have stars instead. Most of the stars pages just have 1 rating so it's nothing to do with quantity or age. This site is very specialist and my articles on here are the only webpages I am set as author for.

Authorship Picture is Gone

You are lucky. At least you SAW it.

I have never once seen mine, on any of 200 pages.
I checked many different pages in Webmaster Tools.
Every one was fine - "blessed".
But that is bull, because it has never worked.
Is my kisser THAT ugly? I've seen many far less appropriate pics.

Is it necessary to add "publisher markup" as well?
Is there some trick to doing that?
I tried to create it, but it wouldn't let me.

I have changed my "authorship markup" twice - what a pain.
Because early on, Google changed the code, AT LEAST twice.
I jumped through all their hoops, to no avail.

> hardest: Rating submitted: G shows ratings stars and author line
> medium: No rating submitted yet so G shows author pic instead
> low: G considers page not suitable for either ratings star or author pic so just shows author line

There IS a fourth category -
> junk: not even an "author line"

I am very close to ripping all that "authorship boloney" out.
Why bother, when it gets you NOTHING, but frustration?
I will go with the author metatag, and let it go at that.

@Sally Stitts
It took me 3 months for my authorship image to appear; otherwise, only my author line would appear.

It's definitely frustrating, but I recommend adding the meta tag and if it works, it works.
