Was my website affected by the Panda or Penguin updates?

I wonder if my website was affected by the Panda or Penguin Google updates? My traffic dropped from 700 visitors daily over 2 years to just 40.

Here are the details:

- on 13 July 2011 the traffic dropped from 700 daily to 400 daily

- on 4 Jan 2012 the traffic went back to 700 daily visits

- on 28 April 2012 the traffic dropped to 200 daily visits

- then the traffic was slowly dropping to 100 daily visits

- till today the traffic has slowly dropped to just 40 daily visits

Note: The dates above can vary 2-3 days.

Why can the dates vary? In your analytics did the drop happen on one day or slowly over several days?

Also, did you confirm those drops against your server log files or a different analytics program (such as statcounter), or are you relying simply on google analytics?

I ask because there was a time when GA was showing one of my site's traffic cut in half for about 6 weeks, and then it mysteriously recovered.

But when I checked the server logs, the traffic showed no decline.

So either google was having a brain cramp or I somehow removed the GA code from some of my pages.
