SERP Display URL Observation

 5:01 pm on May 31, 2013 (gmt 0)

Since the 9th of may like others we had a traffic drop that I cannot work out why.

Once thing I notices was KB per day in google WMT has drop 90%. So I have been checking whether new posts had been indexed. Now when I copy a new post URL into google the following happens. Lets say the page is -
www.nicewidget/widgetcheese87 and the page title is Widgetcheese87-how to Widget a widget

Then the page title is displayed as below however instead or normally the URL underneat the page title, the site root is display the a ? then the category the post is in . For example

Widgetcheese87- how to Widget a widget
A Date and a meta description is then here.

Strange thing is I have tried the same with a competitors URL and the URL is posted under their page title. IMO this gives a better idea of the page content.

Anyone seen this?

They've been doing that with all my URLs on all my sites for months and months. I thought it might be because of the breadcrumbs, but I think I've seen it for sites that don't have breadcrumbs. I don't think it's tied or indicative of a traffic problem though.
