Hi all,

I was reading backdraft7's thread about 950, and had me wondering if a few of my sites are in the same predicament as he was due to canonical issues? He had mentioned he saw improvements after removing index.html from the links.

Currently, my sites are basicaly all linked like so: (in main navigation links)

mysite.tld/folder1/index.html
mysite.tld/folder2/index.html

So my question is do I need to change all of my links to:

mysite.tld/folder1/
mysite.tld/folder2/

TIA!

You should link to the shorter URL and redirect requests for the longer URL to the shorter URL.

ok I will change it to the shorter URL then.

I don't know much about writing htaccess code... can anyone direct me to where I can find out how to setup the code to redirect the longer URL to the shorter one?

So I would need to setup htaccess to redirect:

mysite.tld/folder2/index.html

to

mysite.tld/folder2/

The index redirect code has been posted in several threads this week, and every week since the dawn of the forum.
