| Today the "number of results" has passed. |
| I also don't see the "number of results" from the US, but I'm not sure whether this change is new or not. I don't watch Image Search results closely enough to say anything about a change in the ranking algorithm.

Just want to told you what happened in Germany. I have analysed the top-5000 keywords for images (Germany). This is what I could read out of it: Four weeks ago Google changed the image-search algo fundamentally: freshness became really important. The effect was that news-sites and shops won a lot of new images in the top-100. This period took two weeks and a lot of small sites lost images and positions. But one week ago Google turned this back. At the same time (one week ago) Wikipedia lost about 10% of their top-positions. The news-sites and some shops also felt down. In consequnce this week many small sites and galleries won a lot of positions. I have nor idea if this is important for other countries. But perhaps it helps somebody ...

Hello mssfldt - German image results has always been a little different then all other countries. Like when you click a thumb you still see the full original site to the left and google content on the right. About image count that stopped about 2-3 weeks ago no clue why. Rankings of images, hmm I dont see any real difference, but I also dont watch google image germany that much. I do notice sometimes that for the same image the url changes, but the ranking still the same.
