I think I remember hearing from someone who banged into the same wall. The solution they found was first verifying a second personal email address for their Google+ account that used their email on the business's mail server - email@example.com
I've been looking for a Google source that confirms or explains this, but so far no luck. So I'm not sure about my memory at this point. However, it seems to be an avenue worth exploring.
