I see similar behavior on a site of mine that was hit by penguin.

Jez123, have you revised any of your content recently? I see the behavior that you describe only for newer content snippets. The newer the snippet, the more likely I am to rank #1 for it, briefly, until scrapers steal it and push me down. For older snippets (including content that I revised a mere 3 months ago), I'm suppressed to the supplemental body. This gives scrapers full rights to rank with your content in Google. Penguin and/or other penalties will certainly lead to snippet suppression.

Hi crobb, yes quite a lot has been revised to try and get free of the scrapers. It's bloody ridiculous for scrapers to outrank me for my original content that I am only changing as it was copied from me in the first place!

| Yes it is a very unfortunate effect of Penguin, and it is hurting brands. I revised some of my content a few months ago, and was happy to see it rank #1 for a while (in quotes). It is now suppressed. It has been scraped dozens of times. At the very least, in light of other penalties, Google should allow the company name and snippets to appear where they should -- #1. They can suppress search rankings, but exact match snippets shouldn't. It's deliberate brand/authorship damage.

Yes and on some sites that got hit hard searching for even exact title with quotes is in ommited results. It's a sign of a big penalty.

| When I paste a snippet of my unique text without quotes, my site does not appear for that phrase. If I paste it and add quotes it appears. |
| Did the page used to appear for the unquoted search?

| Not only does a title not appear, but neither does a 2 keyword domain name. Not only does a 2 keyword domain name not appear but a NEW 2 keyword domain name (linked form the old domain), does not appear. It seems the penalty will follow you across domains.
