Manual Spam Penalty Revoked... time frame to wait?

 3:59 am on Mar 19, 2012 (gmt 0)

How long does it take after google sends you a notice that it has revoked a spam penalty before you see your site restored? What's the time frame (best to worst) to wait? Anyone have first hand experience?

In the past 2+ years, I've dealt with three sites being penalized. In 2010 (site 1) and 2011 (site 2), both recovered "instantly" (within 1-2 days) once the penalty was revoked.

I am now working with a new website that received an unnatural link penalty. The penalty was "partially revoked" 10 days ago but so far there has been no change in rankings. Specifically regarding the unnatural link penalty, can someone share how long it took their site to recover once the penalty was fully or partially revoked?

I've heard of sites that had the penalty revoked and were ranking again almost immediately. I'm guessing it depends on the nature of the penalty.

@vphoner can you make an update of your situation?
